[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Barbie Basics doll is far more than "basic". While she may be wearing basic black, her features were loved by my 3 granddaughters. The multiple joints made playing with her, and posing her, easy and fun for them. They particularly loved the fact that her ankle joints made it easy for her to wear flats or heels! The fact that her dress could be worn by their other Barbies of different sizes made sharing a breeze, except that they all wanted to use the super cool boots! We will definitely be adding some other Barbie Basics to their Barbie families!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] She is absolutely adorable and she can be posed in many different poses. The coloring and hair style is very current. Her accessories add to the classic styling. If it's for a younger person, they will need help removing the doll from the packaging. The little black dress so very chic, and the knee high boots have a slit in the back to make them easy to remove. The articulate joints make dressing the doll very easy, and posing makes her more lifelike. The makeup is not overly done, and her hair is in a cute style. I would probably like a warmer hair color to match her skin tone better. But that is just a personal preference. Although you can pose her in many different ways, I would have like the joints covered better so the mechanics are not so noticeable. I like the fact that her head is interchangeable with other Basic Barbies to achieve different looks.

It blends in the bathroom for inspiration in the mirror, and talk piece for the living room and instant joy for a young black women to embrace.

They wanted to actually wear the boots that the doll was wearing. The details were impressive, tge earrings, the hair. A beautiful doll that made 2 young girls fall in love with her and haven't stopped playing with on a daily basis. Barbie even went on Vacation with us. Awesome

My niece has very full curly hair just like this Barbie has and she likes seeing and playing with dolls who have hair like her. The outfit is very now and my niece plays dress up from my closet with her Barbie to match the outfit. And then there's the Barbie's makeup. My niece can put on eye liner much straighter then I ever could bu.using Barbie as a model. My niece and I really like this Barbie. I appreciate that the Barbie inspires my niece's imagination and creativity.

My first impression was that I loved the color of her hair, but that the earrings she wears look chintzy and I noticed a slight divet on the tip of her nose that looks like an imperfection. I also like the articulated arms and legs for pose ability but haven’t been able to look past the very obvious knee and elbow attachments that make movement possible. This is true of this body type in general on Barbie, at least for me. Clothing-wise they just don’t make outfits like they used to, though to be fair this is a Barbie “Basics” model so any expectations of intricacy are misappropriated. Plain outfit works due to the striking nature of the face-paint and hair. The hair and makeup combination is really beautiful on this doll!

I have a niece who is very jealous of my doll but i honestly can't bear to part with it. If you're a Barbie fan this is a must have. No complaints.

She was very pleased with the hair and outfit and immediately started playing with it. It was a nice change from the traditional Barbie look and provided ideas for creative play.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, it was a delight to see a doll with an authentic skin color for a lot of black people. It is a good representation of many of the little girls who play with Barbie’s. The face makeup fits this doll. The lips are more natural for black women. Wow! The hair was the most exciting feature that my was talked about the most. Full, curly and burgundy hair is a great fashion statement. The coordination of a black, silver earrings and high heel black boots were an added plus. They are fashionable and compliments the doll’s look. This is a birthday present for a 8 year old. Birthday is May 5th. Older sister gave some thoughts. She will enjoy the fact that the doll is jointed so she can pose the doll differently as she sets up different photo shoots. Changing the clothes will be an easy task. Currently, we are searching for more clothes. Disappointed that the joints stand out so much. The concept of making it easy to switch heads and bodies is great. The problem for me is finding another Barbie with same skin color and a different head or body. Not a deal breaker and we may not use this feature. Overall, this doll will be a delight for children to play and use their imagination. I think the versatility of the doll is the main selling point.

The LBD theme with the clothing not to many accessories. The doll head is so easy to remove now it insane.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Barbie Basics doll has a beautiful face and hair. I love the coloring and makeup, and she really stands out. The costuming leaves more to be desired. The dress is uninventive and the boots are very oddly designed, with open slits in the back. The costuming looks cheap and boring.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Barbie Basics Model number 3 doll is a solidly constructed doll. Her hair is a beautiful almost cranberry/cherry tone of gorgeously curly, doily hair, it’s tied back in a neat ponytail that shows off her silver toned earrings and her makeup nicely. My doll arrived with some small, but noteworthy defects, the top issue is a paint mark between her brows that will need to be removed somehow as it takes away from her sculpt and styling. Her earrings have some places where the silver toned paint has chipped, exposing the plastic beneath, however they are a beautiful dangle style and this issue doesn’t take away from the overall effect. Her skin tone is deep and gorgeously brown, but some casting/finishing marks on her show up more prominently in a darker skin toned doll. She’s the tall body style and her made to love joints move and pose beautifully even if there are marks and indentations on her limbs. Her dress and boots are cute, with nice sculpting on the shoes and a flirty hem on her basic black dress. Overall she is a stunning doll, and her new neck switch feature allows me to play and dress her on any of the bodies from the basics line. Overall, a wonderful addition to the Barbie line, though I wish her fave paint wasn’t slightly defective.
