The music (all previously unreleased material) is powerful, soaring and exciting jazz from the beat era through the exploratory '60s and funky '70s. 15 selections featuring performances by Lionel Hampton, Jean-Luc Ponty, Maynard Ferguson, Shelly Mann, Thad Jones and others, as well as vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater.
