Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Q: Are these good for winter? Do they keep kids warm when outside but not too hot when indoors?

  • A: I think so. They're not super thick or thin, they're somewhere in the middle. My son has played outside when it's been in the thirties at school and then inside the school it's fairly warm and he's been perfectly comfortable, according to him. I guess it does depend on the kid too but we LOVE these sweatpants and have been buying them since he's been 4 and he's 9.5 now. That should say something. Lol Just FYI too- They also last forever and I've never had any holes or rips or visible wear. Great buy, even if lounging in the house. :)

Q: I’m buying for an Angel Tree child who wears a true 7. The small fits a 6/7. Is it best to size up or are these true to size? I don’t know the child, so not sure if big/small for age.

  • A: I would go bigger so they can be used for longer. That's my favorite thing about joggers is they can be too long and still be ok.

  • A: I'd get a medium and size up as others suggested. Only because they're going to grow, especially around that age. They are true to size but they also have an elastic waistband and a usable drawstring on the waist so when I've bought larger sizes I was able to tie the drawstring a bit, until he grew into them a bit better. Consumer beware!!!! Quality is no longer for Cat and Jack kids clothing. These pants didn't even last 3 months. Target corporate states 1 year guarantee for these brand, but Target stores don't honor the guarantee.

I've purchased several pairs of these sweatpants over the past 3 years, with size L being a perfect fit. However, when I tried to replace my well-worn Navy Blue pair, the new pair I received in size L is markedly smaller than all of my previous purchases. Very disappointing. Otherwise, I agree with other reviewers that these are good quality, comfort, and design.

Wow! these Joggers are everything I have been looking for! Nice quality fabric, re-inforced knees, and elastic waist with a drawstring. The drawstring is stretchy so that if you tie it, your child can pull the pants up and down without untying it! The knees do look a little wrinkly after washing, but I am totally ok with that. (Press with a warm Iron and it should be ok if that is important to you) The reinforced knee is bonded on the backside and that is why it looks that way after washing. IMO, all jersey material gets some pilling after awhile, but I do not see any after several washings. These Joggers are nice quality and comfortable. My kids love these pants and so do I. I just placed my third order so all 5 kids have some new Joggers!

Three pants are so soft and fit my son really well. He's five years old, tall for his age but thin, and usually wears a size 6/7. Sometimes I find that with pants, the waist is too loose, but there's no way a 4/5 would fit. These pants are perfect, though - room to grow, but not so much that they fall off him, and the drawstring is functional. They're also very soft, and he is all about cozy clothes!
