Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

My 12-year old is a creature of comfort, and this is his second pair. We like that they are lightweight, pull-on, and quick dry. I was worried that the fit wouldn’t work for him because he had a growth spurt and is tall and lanky for his age (5’5.5”, 113lbs, 26” waist), but the size 18 worked out just fine. These are definitely a mild weather pant…they are super lightweight and more of a performance fabric. My son loves this kind of fabric. The sizing is a bit big and large all over. He’s turning 8 (though on the short side) and these are far too long and big still. So you may want to size down. I received this item for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I have started school shopping for my little one and these jogger pants are perfect for back to school. These joggers are an olive green color and can be easily paired with a variety of tops. The material is super soft, my 9 year old states they are super comfortable. These joggers are straight fit and have 2 pockets. The elastic waistband with the flexible drawstring is great for my little guy. I wash and dried these pants prior to him wearing and they came out as good as new. I got the joggers in his current size and they fit him perfectly. If you are looking for high quality joggers for your little one, I highly recommend these ones by Cat & Jack!

The Cat & Jack quick dry jogger pants would be great for any time of the year. They have very lightweight fabric to keep your child cool. They come with front pockets, and a rope drawstring to make sure they stay on! These pants have a comfortable stretchy band around the waste The bottoms of the pants also have the same flexibility.

Another pair of joggers approved by my 9 year old. These pants are windbreaker material so they are a bit on the loud side. They are super light and airy. The waist on these is pretty big so my kid usually rolls the waist of pants for a tighter fit. The other option is to use the functioning drawstring.
