Since embroidery is more of a hobby for me, this machine is great. With the 5x7 frame I can do most of what I want. User friendly and so easy to download new designs to flash drive. Then I also have the ability to sew with it. Works great for me, Love it

I bought this machine mostly for the embroidery functions. However, it is very inconvenient to use because it only cuts the thread after each color. So, if you are doing a design with say black thread jn one area and it needs to go to another area it will drag a line of thread across your design to get to that point. If it has to stop and start frequently with the same color, you have jump strings of black thread going all over your design. I know it's one of the less expensive machines, but the cutting feature seems like a necessity. When I have stitched with the embroidery functions, I'm very happy with the quality of the stitches and overall ease of use. I have not used the sewing machine functions.

We apologize for any inconvenience. The Brother SE1900 is equipped with the end color trim function and will automatically trim the thread after each color if this function is turned on. You will see jump stitches if the same color is sewn but in different areas. Those jump stitches can be trimmed after sewing is complete. We would love to help answer any questions you may have. SE1900 is a nice machine for my needs. Sews nicely. Haven't tried the embroidery side yet, but have been mending clothes and it has been a breeze getting my clothes back to wearable.

When I first got the SE1900 I thought it was all I needed. After 1 year I had to upgrade to another Brother machine. I am now at a Stellair XJ1 and love it. I didn't know how much fun it was to embroider. I have even sold a lot of my projects at craft shows. I'm retired and have a lot of time to put into my hobby. So my stitch count is really getting high, but it won't stop me. Love Brother machines. I now own a Persona and a Accolade Serger. I have a regular factory in my hobby room.

The machine thinks for you. It stops when bobbin is empty. If thread is not in needle, it stops. Whatever the error, the machine stops and lets you know. Very dependable machine

I enjoy the versatility of my Brother SE 1900! I use my machine for quilting and garment sewing. Once in a blue moon I will use the embroidery attachment. But honestly, I prefer the other functions offered with this machine.

This machine is a dream to use. I've had many sewing machines over the years, good, name brands but they all have been "touchy" so it was really stepping out of my comfort zone to buy a sewing/embroidery machine. Plus, I live "in the sticks" so there was no hope of going in for classes or help. But this had the larger 5x7 hoop and it doubled as a sewing machine so I leaped. Oh goodness, embroider something...just one thing...and you'll be so impressed with what you and your wonderful machine can do! I've made clothes, quilts, home decor and more. This machine handles any task from start to finish. From embroidery though piecing then quilting, it does it all, again and again. You need to read the book, keep it clean, not get frustrated, and when all else fails and your thread keeps breaking, probably change needles and your reward is beautiful, one of a kind heirlooms from your own sewing room. And it's SO easy to download embroidery patterns. Novice to expert in no time at all.
