I’ve gone to target the last couple years to get our butterball turkey and over and over they have been the only place I could find LARGE turkeys. I always want one that is 20lbs and repeatedly target has been the only place I could find one and I am always happy with the price and quality. Just got another 20 lb for this year as well! I paid about $20 for a 20 lb turkey.

Regretful
I have never bought a butterball turkey that was tough!!! I have always bought butterball turkey for many years and never regretted it! This turkey was less than 16 pounds , so it should have been a young bird. I am wondering if it was frozen, defrosted, frozen again, I don’t know but the quality of this bird was not good. I have reservations about purchasing another.

Faulty advertising
the ad says butterball premium turkey 16-20 lb is .99/pound with a max price of $19.80. I paid $1.47/pound with a charge of $21.10 for a 14.28 pound turkey . Too much of a hassel to return it, but I went to Target specifically for the .99/pd price.

Faster than planned
Surprise! 20 lb turkey arrives early! 2.5 hours at 400 cooked in an aluminum pan on the grill rather than the 4.5 hours per instructions. Threw the thermometer away. Screws up timing but it was a golden beauty and tasted darn good.

Brine your turkey before roasting it and loose the gravy!!!
My husband created a salt and sage brine for this turkey. We thawed out the turkey thoroughly then put it in in the cooled brine. On Thanksgiving morning, I seasoned the inside of the turkey with ground sage, poultry seasoning and roasted it with some cut and skinned apples. Best turkey we've ever had and the breast meat was still delectabe the next day.
