My first and probably favorite camera ever! It's small and compact but does a perfect job at taking pictures. I mainly use it for personal use for my social media and my photos have never looked better. There are tons of different settings you can use to make your photos look amazing you just have to play around with it a bit.

    Compact and Powerful

I purchased this compact Canon for travel to Japan. I have several full frame cameras including a Mark V and Mark IV along with 85, 24-75, 70-200 lenses, equipment that's very heavy. The GX7 Mark II has the focal range I wanted, the weight and the speed needed to capture the photos and video that I wanted. Focus worked well and the battery life worked for me. I purchased two additional batteries just in case, but never ran out of power during the day. Having the backups went well. I did purchase a larger wrist strap for comfort level and a screen protector for potential scratches since this is my view finder. Since I don't use a selfie stick, the location of the batery compartment was not an issue for me. Recording with sound can be a challenge in windy conditions, just place a wind muff by the built in mic. (not included). Once I uploaded the video the sound level was adequate and I could hear items much better than directly from the camera. The controls are easy to use same standard Canon controls I have on my full frame cameras. Touch screen is an added bonus, still getting aquainted with that since I am used to non-touch screen Canon Camera controls. Although there is no viewfinder, I found using the screen worked well. I didn't miss the viewfinder and really enjoyed being able to angle some shots, selfies, etc. A lot of my shots were taken while on the move wth little time to compose them. Overall I found this to be an excellent purchse and add to my Canon equipment. Recomendations for improvement would be an extenal mic jack, move that battery compartment for those who use a selfie stick, add a more comfortable wrist strap. I researched several other brands and opted to purchase the G7X Mark II, even over the Mark III. Great little camera.

Last year, I completed 50 years of motorsports action photography in 13 US states & 2 Canadian provinces. I have the big DSLR's and now a 2 year old R6 mirrorless. I have always had a Canon digital pocket size Point & Shoot since 2006, being 3 models but 6 of them. When the S120 got 'foreign material' inside the lens (just like the other 2 previous models), I chose the replacement to be the G7 X M2. I love its size, to fit into a shirt pocket, its rugged case, it does a really good job of auto focus, on "Auto" shooting mode (which I rarely use on my 'big' cameras) producing almost always absolutely wonderful high quality photos. As long as they are "still" photos. My 2 'big' camera's do "action" photos but they also can do the same "still" photos as the G7 but the size of the 'big' camera body with a big lens is just absolutely heavy and awkward to 'shoot' the same subject as I use the G7 for, with each camera producing the same photo quality. G7 is just such a handy size producing quality photos but its downsize is the subject need to be very nearby, as there is not much zoom in the lens, unlike my 3 other cameras, which includes a Canon SX540HS which is a very handy travel camera with a rather amazing short to long range zoom lens that produces a lot of nice photos, too. All 4 of my cameras have specific 'subjects' that they shoot. I am still 100% Canon equipment, now in its 18th year.

This little camera produces brilliant images, comparable to those produced by my top of the line SLR. However, the menus and icons are much too complicated and after two years I am still unable to understand them. For example, my thumb touched a dial on the back of the camera and it started producing three images every time I pressed the shutter. Took me weeks to figure it out, even with the instructions at hand. Still, used on "auto" or "program", this camera generally works well.

This is a perfect option for an all around, compact, point and shoot. I’ve had several compact cameras over the years and this is the best, as far as image quality goes. I keep this on me for quick use and holds up well against more expensive cameras.

I purchased this for something light to throw in my pocket. My 6D is too bulky for day to day. This has a great quality photo however it is just not built up enough to withstand getting tossed in your pocket. I have already sent it back to have the zoom finger trigger fixed. It just seems too "dainty" for the price.

This camera takes stunning pictures and movies. I wanted a camera that was small enough to fit in my pocket, and that can deliver high quality images. I mostly use the camera in auto mode and have been extremely happy with the results. The battery lasts a long time as long as you don't use the Wi-Fi feature too much. All in all a great camera!

High quality photos in small package

I've had this camera for about a year now and have used it for outdoor photography on climbing and skiing trips where I need something that fits in my pocket. I'm not super camera savvy and so I find that 99% of the time, auto-shooting mode combined with some light Adobe Lightroom post-processing produces exactly the kind of images I'm after. All the 1-star reviews have to do with it's lack of WiFi connectivity. This has nothing to do with the quality of the images produced so these reviews are stupid; I use a card reader and have had no issues. WiFi connectivity with my Mac does indeed not work, but with my iPhone it is seamless when the Canon app is downloaded. I prefer using the card reader anyway.

I'm a retired commercial photographer and video producer of 40 years. I wanted a compact camera for photo and video that would serve me well. Over the last 2+ years this small but mighty camera has given me everything I've asked it to do. Full auto, manual operations of all types and never a failure. I'm impressed. Delighted to have this camera with me wherever I go.

Compact and lightweight. WIFI is nearly impossible to connect. USB cord cannot transfer files. I have to take the memory card out and use a card reader. Issues with autofocus; sometimes, it just went out of focus, lost for a few seconds before regaining focus.
