A delightful book - 1 year ago
What a delightful read! I loved learning with Zayla about the myriad ways we can see, experience, taste, love, and even dance our way through God's glory. This book helps children (and parents!) develop a bigger, broader view of how mighty, creative, compassionate, and wondrous—indeed, how glorious—our God is. The book features charming illustrations, lively language, and a lovable family.

"Chasing God's Glory" is a beautifully illustrated, sweet story of finding God's glory in everyday moments. Our world is so full of negativity and division... it's refreshing to have a story to share with kiddos (and adults!) with a focus on SEEING the beauty that's around us, the common threads that bring us together, and the bonds of faith that strengthen us through any situation. This book doesn't skirt hard topics, like the loss of a loved one. It's not all fluff and magic... it's choosing to see God's glory in EVERY circumstance. It's purely beautiful. I also love how the author has given us a book for children, following her Bible Study / Devotional for adults, "Glory Chasers: Discovering God's Glory in Unexpected Places" which I also read and thoroughly enjoyed. If you're looking for positivity, inspiration, beauty, and a way to help kids see the world around them through a wholesome, Spirit-filled, strength-based framework... this is the book for your family (or classroom, office, waiting room, etc.)

Dorina Lazo Gilmore-Young & Alyssa De Asid have done an incredible job of illustrating how we can find God’s glory all around us. I loved how intentional she was about highlighting various cultural aspects as also bringing glory to God. I don’t often see children’s books, especially ones of faith, that include multiracial families. As a mixed woman myself, I know how important representation is and this book does a great job of featuring many ethnic & cultural backgrounds. Highly recommend this book for churches, libraries, schools & home. It so beautiful! Makes a great gift too!!

Reminds me of the kids book Maybe God Is Like That Too by JENNIFER GRANT, except this one has the mom and daughter at the forefront. I love all the diversity of examples given for God’s Glory.

This vibrant story emanates diverse ways children can marvel at God's beautiful and amazing creation throughout their daily lives. As a teacher, I am often looking to integrate these concepts into the curriculum, so I love how his book wonderfully weaves the themes of appreciating people from different socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures and how diversity strengthens our communities. The book introduces children to new sensory experiences expressed through art, music, dance, relationships, nature, and delicious foods from different cultures. A delightful book that helps children see beauty in the unique ways God created them and their families as shown through the colorful and joyful illustrations. Dorina Lazo Gilmore-Young also tenderly addresses loss with hope and gently hints at seeing God's glory on both sunny and sad days too. Highly recommend this book for every classroom, library, and home as a catalyst for further discussions about how to find God's glory and beauty everywhere. A great read aloud that your family will want to read again and again! Definitely plan to purchase more copies to give to friends! I want to thank the publisher for an advanced reader copy. No review was required. All opinions are my own.

The book is a poignant story about how to search for God's glory all around us. I love the adventure that the mother and daughter go on through the city on their bikes to find God's glory in everyday things. Also, the illustrations are gorgeous and brilliantly colored.
