A: Nope! Our Kraut, Kimchi, Pickles, and Pickled Vegetables are raw & unpasteurized - never heat treated and kept refrigerated to preserve the live probiotics and fresh, crunchy texture. That’s what makes Cleveland Kitchen different from other brands!

Q: Is it typical for this product’s package to be expanded prior to opening? I realize it could be because it’s fermentation but want to make sure it’s still safe to eat.

A: Great question! Yes — a bit puffing is totally normal. Our products are naturally fermented and alive with probiotics, so they can release a bit of gas. It’s safe to eat and part of the fresh fermentation magic!

A: There is a 'Best By' date on each pouch. After opening, naturally fermented kraut can stay good for months! We at CK always eat our kraut in the first 30 days, for the crunchiest bite!

Terrible Taste
This is by far the worst sauerkraut I have ever tasted, and I consider myself an aficionado.

You need to try this
This is of the best store bought sauerkraut I’ve ever tried. It’s crisp and just the right amount of the sour taste, perfect as a side dish for many different cuisine. And what really surprises me is this sauerkraut is very soothing for my gut. I have very sensitive digestive system throughout my life, and this product actually helps me. No more bloating, no more pain after I eat this sauerkraut every single day. Highly recommended this wonderful product!

TASTES REALLY REALLY BAD
Please be aware most this brands reviews come from a paid marketing review site. Therefore the thousand plus reviews are basically disingenuous. Today. I bought this kraut because the target I went to didn’t have ANY OTHER BRAND IN STOCK. Firstly, this does NOT belong in a bag. Unless you want to not find a proper seal on the bag because the tiny pieces of cabbage that get stuck in the threads. Who adds caraway seeds?? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. It tastes terrible. Stick with the dollar can of Frank’s, you won’t be disappointed. No reason fermented cabbage should be more than five dollars. Cleveland kitchen got lucky today when I found myself out of luck in the Kraut dept. Well played.

Doesn’t taste as yummy as the garlic flavor. I hate that Target only carries two flavors. It’s a bit more smelly, but it is fermented and helps with my digestion. Would still buy if no option.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cleveland Kitchen offers a nice variety of sauerkraut and kimchi options. As I debated back and fourth about which one to try, I ultimately decided on the classic caraway kraut. It was so easy to prepare. My family and I enjoyed it along side a nice pork roast. You can’t go wrong with pork and sauerkraut. I felt it was comparable to the usual bagged sauerkraut I purchase. I added just a touch of brown sugar prior to heating it. It had a nice bite to it but also delicious. I would consider purchasing from this brand again as long as the price is on par with my usual favorite brand.
