A: Hi - the actual shelf depth in between the clouds (the back and front lip) is approx 3.75" and the total shelf depth is about 4.5".

My husband used 40lb anchors so that I didn’t have to worry. We also had a stud in a second install and that can support more weight too if you have a stud where you’re drilling.

Q: What drill bit size do you need for the anchors? the directions say 1/8 but those anchors are not fitting into such tiny holes

The clouds are very cute, if you are lucky enough to receive undamaged items. However, the shipping and handling is so awful that 3 out of 5 clouds I ordered arrived damaged, two of which are completely broken and unusable. Unfortunately, my local store doesn't carry any in stock so shipping is my only option.

I love the look of this shelf for my son’s room. It took going to 3 different store locations to find one that wasn’t scratched…I soon figured out how that happened. After putting it up on the wall, mine had already gotten scratched. If you don’t care about that, it’s a cute shelf. My only other complaint is that it is not very deep and the front cloud part of the design really gets in the way. I can’t even put a smaller sized teddy bear on it without part of it hanging off the front. So good for books facing outward.
