Q: can you use this product in dishwasher and/or washing machines and if so how much
submitted by GT - 5 years ago
A: Add a ½ cup of CLR to either machine where you normally would add your detergent or softener and run your machine. With both types of washers, once the cycle with the CLR has finished, run an additional full cycle with just water. If your machine is high efficiency or “water saver” only use ¼ cup of CLR.
submitted byJax Auntie - 5 years ago
A: Dishwasher: REMOVE dishwashing rinse agent before using CLR Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover. Pour a 1/2 cup of CLR Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover directly into the bottom of an empty dishwasher (no glasses, dishes, or flatware but the racks can stay). Run a normal cycle followed by an extra rinse cycle. Make sure there are no detergents or any other chemicals in the machine while using our product. Washing Machine: Run your empty machine (no clothes) without detergent up to the main wash cycle, which is where the water stops and the cycle is about to agitate. Stop the machine and add one-half cup of CLR Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover directly into the tub of the machine. Finish cycle. Run one additional full cycle (wash and rinse) with water only to rinse machine fully. If your machine is HE (high efficiency) and/or 'Water Saver' we recommend using a 1/4 cup of CLR Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover, instead of the normal 1/2 cup recommended for any other type of washer/dishwasher. For Front Loading Machines: Simply add a 1/2 cup of CLR Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover to the soap dispenser (only 1/4 of a cup for HE machines). After the full cycle has completed, run an additional rinse cycle with just water. Make sure there are no clothes or other chemicals in the machine when using our product.

Q: Is this product good for cleaning dirty grout between tiles on kitchen floor?
submitted by jyce - 5 years ago
A: While our CLR Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover is safe to use on white grout only (no other color), it's specifically formulated to dissolve mineral deposits caused by hard water (calcium/lime) and/or rust or soap scum. It's not formulated as a general grout cleaner

Q: Can I soak my shower head in this, to remove buildup around the nozzles preventing the water from spraying out properly?
submitted by Deb - 3 months ago

Q: can I use CLR on my pool ledge furniture? Is it safe and won't damage or discolor the white finish? please advise. Thank you!
submitted by Yvonne - 6 months ago
A: We do not recommend using any of our products in or around a pool as it can never come into contact with chlorine or it can create a toxic gas. Depending on the material of your pool furniture, our product cannot be used on any painted, coated or sealed surfaces so if the white is due to a paint/coating we would not recommend it. The product can remove paint

Q: where is the list of ingredients?
submitted by Lois - 8 months ago
A: Our ingredients can be found on the back label, in the white Warning section, beneath the 'warnings' near the bottom of that section or on our website: www.clrbrands.com - middle of the page: https://clrbrands.com/Products/CLR-Household/CLR-Calcium-Lime-and-Rust-Remover
We tried many home remedies to elevate the calcium and lime stains in our toilet. Then moved to CRL since it wasn’t as harsh as many other products. This product did the trick! Toilet as good as new …..

Um how is this supposed to work on my toilet water line build up if the directions say to empty the toilet of water and then pour the CLR in? It’s not like it clings to the bowl-so I essentially just wasted half the bottle.

I have used CLR for at least a decade, and while it has never worked all that well on rust, it no longer works at all, and it barely works on lime. Bought a second bottle thinking that the one I had was just a fluke. Sadly, the new one was equally ineffective. If anybody knows a product that works, would appreciate that info.

I've used the product for many years. It's not great, but it's better than just about anything else on limescale. It's not working so great on my fiberglass tub. Short of really strong acid or scrubbing, it's the best. I'll just have to work on it a few times.

Wanted to give this product a try and it did not disappoint. I did a test run after two minutes I scrubbed up and down and there was a very noticeable difference. I was so amazed at the effectiveness of the product. For the price point and size it is well worth the value. I was able to clean the whole tub. Going to purchase more! Very excited to try on tiles.

One of the toilets in the house we bought had coats of hard water, lime, and rust stains. We tried bleach, Clorox wands, scrubbing bubbles, and vinegar/coke. None of it worked. We poured two bottles of CLR in the toilet and let it soak overnight. This was CLR mixed with the water that was already in the toilet so diluted CLR. Almost all of the stains came off. I wish I had taken before and after photos. I was amazed at how well it worked.

Bought this as recommended for cleaning washing machines. I followed the instructions as indicated on the directions: run with CLR and run again with just water. The smell of the washing machine is much, much better; though, there' still lingering smell. I'm guessing this is due to years of use of the washing machine without cleaning it. Caution: do not follow with colored wash - as I did. I noticed that my colored-clothes have white spots, though very, very light - as if it was bleached out - but nothing major.
Will regularly use monthly and see how it goes.

Does what it's supposed to do. But, the reason I choose CLR over other hard water remover brands is that it has an A rating on EWG. A "clean" product that is also effective. It's a win-win!
