Costway 8' x 6.6' Patio Retractable Awning Sunshade Shelter w/Manual Crank Handle

The first two I ordered arrived broken and the seller very kindly replaced them free. My handyman was able to install the new shades, although he had a bit of trouble with the instructions at first, now I am able to have some shade over what was a very hot part of the deck. Thank you very much.

I did not read that this is meant to be bolted to cinder blocks or concrete walls. I was hoping to put it into wood but that didn't work out. It does seem to be pretty solid and long-lasting. It will last forever as long as it is in its box.

With it cranked out it collected a little water from the rain. It would eventually "dump" once too much rain collected. Functionally, it is great.

Overall pretty nice, the installation instructions are a bit lacking but that's par for the course. the paint can scratch pretty easily when mounting, touch up paint would be a nice addition. On a positive note there is quite a bit of adjustment room for the angle of the extended awning, so this can be mounted just over a standard door and still have enough room for my 6'2" frame to stand straight under the far end. So far worth the money.Love!! Retraction is easy.

The Awning looks good and works good. You can mount it to any surface but I suggest it be a sturdy mount because it is not light. In order to secure it on my hardy plank siding, I added a piece of wood board for a sturdy structure. I mounted mine by myself in an hour so anyone can do it if you are determined. Two people would be better though because it will be more balanced.

We used this product on our boat dock where we have hanging sling chairs. The instructions that came with the awning were terrible. Had to find and watch a video on how to get the folding arms to fold properly. Other than that it did the job and kept the afternoon sun off our seating area.

It seems well made and has worked well for the first week. However, installation took me about two weeks. The instructions lay out 10 steps in 6 languages. The type is so small I needed a magnifying glass and the drawings so small the meaning was often unclear. The biggest problem for me is that it is designed to mount on a vertical masonry wall, while we needed to mount on the horizontal soffit. I eventually did this by mounting the awning on a 2x6" board using 3/8" carriage bolts inserted from the soffit side. I started with bolts 2 1/2" long to be sure to have enough thread, but then discovered that one of the four positions required a shorter bolt because of interference by the turning mechanism. I used 3 1/2" deck strews to fasten the board (with inserted bolts) to the joists. Then the hard part. Using the order of assembly in the instructions, I found it impractical to attach the assembled awning at both ends simultaneously (even with the help of my wife). What worked for me was to remove the two articulating arms, and then one end bracket can be attached on its own, then insert the roller, and attach the other bracket. One is then faced with the challenge of attaching the two articulating arms, which I was able to do with some maneuvering. One of the more difficult aspects of the design is described in the instructions as "Please move part K to a suitable position". No explanation of what makes a position suitable. I think getting the position right gets the arms folded up neatly, but the design makes it difficult/impossible to change the position with everything assembled. In my case, the arms are not quite symmetrical, but I'm afraid to try making any adjustments. As is the awning seems to function fine. I improved the design by leaving the fringe off.

lol so i got the box and the parts are all separate. yes you got to build it.. screws pre drill, on one side set already.. you have to install the other half. strange the the screws pre set are strip out. come on man. basically re set each screw with lock tight. dont want this bad boy falling apart next year.. over all product good just the there should be some big block letters saying hey you will need to put this together!!. o ya watch the spring load arms. They need even bigger letters saying dont cut it.

Would be nice to include hardware to install on a wood frame building. Also, just drilling and threading both end caps would permit the user to put the cranking system on either end.

Nice color to match my wood siding. Although it recommends to install into brick siding, I did to wood siding because I need that. It took hours to assemble, need 2 people to climb up holding awning, I bought additional strong studs to make sure it holds sturdy.

We added this awning to our patio and it has completely transformed the space. It looks great and functions perfectl

We've received so many compliments on how beautiful this awning looks on our home. It's a great addition that adds both style and function.

We all like the balcony space on the second floor and placed an outdoor umbrella there. It is quite fun place particular during the hot outdoor watermelon hours. However, the umbrella is blown away or broken again and again with only the base left. Then we decided to turn to permanent infrastructures like this canopy.With some handy work experience and electric tools, the installation is just a piece of cake. Most time is spent on determining the height and position to place it. We tested a few times and it operates very smoothly. Then is the time to enjoy, with a super sweet watermelon. My girl now occupied the area as her Kindle Palace. And that is it since no one else argues.

Over all the quality is good! The shade size is big enough to cover our French windows, and it is effortless to open and close with the handle that it come with. Bought this for almost a month and finally have it set up. Thought it would take time to assemble it so I wait this long until I have time. Took me about an hr including measuring and drilling walls. The manual is easy to follow. Fair price comparing others.

This Awning arrived in time and in great shape. It has been few days this shade is sailing in my backyard, and so far so good. It have shade and also allow sunlight to shine through to feed my plant and not darken area at all. Material seemed to be made of quality material. It has not been broken since installation.

The manual crank handle on this awning operates smoothly and quietly. We appreciate the ease of use and lack of noise

It took me over a year to get this up. Works well, but man, look out or it might kill you.
