Q: How do you know the popcorn is ready? Does it have a timer, or do you wait for it to stop popping? Or turn it off when the popcorn starts slowing down? Please explain?

Just like when cooking popcorn on the stove top or in the microwave, you can tell it is almost finished when the popping slows down. At that point, you would switch the unit off. You can find all of this information and more in the instruction manual included. Hope this helps!

Q: Do you know the max temp this puts out? How hot is the surface when operating?

Q: I have seen some models where a cover is included. I didn't see one in any of the pictures on this site. Is there a cover to put over the bowl for any leftovers?

Q: Does this popper have BPA's in the plastic?
A: We appreciate your concern and strive to be 100% transparent about our products with our customers. Only the clear bowl of the Dash SmartStore Stirring Popcorn Maker contains polycarbonate, the type of plastic that contains BPA. Because Polycarbonate is a clear plastic that can withstand up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and is dishwasher safe, it is an ideal material for our Fresh Pop Popcorn Maker. While BPA is included in California Prop 65 along with over 900 other chemicals including charcoal, you can avoid food contact with BPA by choosing to not melt butter or heat oil in the measuring cup of the Fresh Pop Popcorn Maker. According to California Proposition 65 BPA only possesses a potential risk for reproductive harm in women. Q: How much is a "small" amount of oil? And, can you skip the oil?
A: Thank you for your question about the Dash 6Qt SmartStore Stirring Popcorn Maker! Please refer to the measuring chart included in your instruction manual for more information, but the formula is 1 tbsp per 2 cups of popped popcorn. Therefore, if you intended to pop 6 quarts, you would need to add 3 tbsp of oil. The use of oil is recommended to prevent the kernels from burning.
