Book Synopsis

Democracy and International Relations is the first study of the relevance and applicability of international relations theory to the explanation of the contemporary global push for liberal democracy by the major western powers and international organizations - including the UN, the EU and the international financial institutions such as the World Bank, and the IMF. About the Author

HAZEL SMITH is a Reader in International Relations at the University of Warwick. She was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Center for Latin American Studies, Stanford University, and has also been Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, Washington, DC.
