DeWalt ToughSystem - Metric/SAE Mechanic's Tool Set - 3/8 and 1/2 in. drive - 85 Pieces

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This socket set is great. They are strong and durable. The coating on them makes them very wasy to clean. The 5 degree ability of the ratchets makes working in tight places like under the hood a breeze. Its also rare in a set like this to get some of the larger size deep well sockets that come in this set. I highly recommend them.

So comfortable and when you are using it you can just tell its a good tool, (if you know, you know).Even the case is killer I honestly have yet to come across a Dewalt tool that disappointed me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great medium sized set with quality ratchets and sockets. The smooth finish on the ratchet heads make for quick cleanup and the knurling around each socket are a nice touch for getting down to business with your fingers after a bolt is loose (or starting one.) Ratchet function is also smooth. I counted about 68 clicks for a full revolution on the 3/8". Though not impact rated, the sockets worked fine on my impact driver for regular, non-extreme wrenching. The cases are stamped "Tough System", but they don't seem to match up to my TS boxes (maybe an updated style?) The trays are removeable and would easily come out to be set into a mechanic's chest, and then the boxes could be repurposed. I also really liked that all the items could be removed from the trays without the need for a prybar! This set is the perfect size to cover my needs for field repairs when I'm out with the RV and toys. It has a larger range of sizes than other "convenient size" sets I've owned that always seems to be one size short of what I'm working on! Definitely recommend these tools for a pro-level experience.

This is my first experience with DeWalt's ToughSystem and I am big on organization and being able to find tools and this system does just that. Even better, I can slide the tray that holds the sockets out and place it right in my toolbox. Then if I need to pack up some tools I don't have to throw a bunch of sockets in a bag. I just pick the whole tray up and put it in its' case. Yeah, big fan of the ToughSystem, because I hate having to walk back and forth to the garage to grab one more socket! Now the actual tools. The ratchets have some heft to them, which feels nice in the hand, but I worried about them being a little too heavy for small jobs. However, it is so well balanced that I can hold just the head of the ratchet for small bolts that require minimal torque with no problem. You can tell they thought about this because the head has smooth and rounded edges for comfort. The ratchet handles are also smooth with a slight rounding to them which is way more comfortable when you're having to put some force behind them. Cheaper ratchets have more squared handles that cut into your hand. The ratchets both have a fine tooth count which helps a lot when it comes to working in tight spots. The sockets seem to be made well, and there's a good variety of them in each case with both short and long sockets. Only other thing I'd like to see on the sockets is high visibility markings for the sizes. They are easy enough to see in normal conditions, but under a truck on a creeper, it's a little harder to see them from a distance. All in all, it's a high quality socket with great storage solutions!

I love how the case stack neatly and easily on top of each other and they don't slide off! That is super helpful. Each case also has handles for easy lifting and they didn't slip my grip even with dirty hands. The feel and fit of the ratchet in hand was perfect. You can tell they are made to last. The sockets snap in well and sunny just fall off. The sockets also feel like they have a perfect grip. Everything is high quality as usual when it comes to Dewalt. Love this set.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using this set for about a month I can say with confidence that this is a great set for a beginner. Has everything you need to do most basic repairs on a vehicle. The fact that they fit in the tough system boxes is an amazing feature.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very pleasantly surprised when I received the product the craftsmanship of Dewalt tools and the built-in removable tray that holds the tools in place for carrying or storage then turning into a much needed tray when removed to help take care of hardware and parts from disassembly is big plus and a must have for all. From beginners to Pro's this set will most definitely take care of a person's mechanical needs a big plus from me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great quality ratchets and sockets. Ratchets feel solid and have good weight to them. Tough case is a nice inclusion. Makes it easy to store and find each tool when needed. A 6" 1/2" extension would be nice but other than that, great kit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recieved this today and absolutely love the design of the ratchets. They feel substantial and not cheap. Nice smooth edges and the gears are nice and smooth also. I used them to replace my thermostat on my truck and the ratchets are really good in tight spaces. The case each comes in clicks together and makes for a nice and tight package that can be tossed in the vehicle or set on a workbench. I bought a big husky set recently, and doubt that it will see much use after receiving these.

I really like this socket set I am happy with the insert style however I would like to see a few more sockets/adapters instead of the screwdriver and bits that just take up space. This set is still worth getting and I'm glad I did, I just took out the screwdriver and bits and replaced them with a 6" extension and pivoting adapter witch are a better match in this set I give 5 stars to all except one 4 star under value due to the screwdriver and bits
