DeWalt ToughSystem - Metric/SAE Socket and Adapter Set - 3/8 in. drive - 37 Pieces

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I bought this set to keep in my vehicle and it’s perfect for that. The back of my SUV gets cluttered quickly so after i bought this set I ordered the tough system 2.0 three drawer storage piece. Here’s why I give it a four. They gave the mechanic tool set the same name as their tough system 2.0 storage boxes. This gives the impression that it will stack on them. You can remove the tray inside tray and it will fit inside the tough system shallow tool storage. So yeah it can work with it, just not the way I expected.

As an electrician, this is a great set for assembling panels without a lot of unnecessary bits that never get used and it dosen't take up a lot of space inside a tough system box.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have put this socket set through a series of tests. This tool has held up to everything i could throw at it and has performed very well. The crome finish is easy to keep clean and has a comfortable grip. The ratcheting is very smooth and it grips very well under high torque. From standard assembly to under the hood this tool has exceeded my expectations in comfort and performance. Furthermore, the feature i find very useful is it fits right in my dewalt 2.0 toolbox so it is always on hand when needed.

Most tool sets are missing key sockets that are needed for a many jobs but this one had everything I’ve needed. It has the tool tray that you can pull out and it also fits into the tough system 2.0. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dewalt 37 piece socket set looks good in the ToughSystem tray. The case is meant to be used alone or within the ToughSystem. I have had the set for a few weeks and have performed several tasks around the house including the repair of wooden chairs. The high quality of this set is evident by the weight of each piece. The set is chrome finished and Dewalt added knurling to the sockets and extensions. The set offers both metric and standard size sockets. A three inch and a six inch extension is included with this set. The is a small compartment that hold miscellaneous parts. The sockets can be easily found and are positively held in place by the sleek plastic case. The fit and finish of this set is on par with higher priced sets. The ratchet feels good in the hand and is well balanced. The quick switch on the handle is very convenient for switching between tightening and loosening. The weight of each piece speaks of the heavy duty construction. Each socket is etched with the size and is easily readable. The knurling helps in giving a better grip on the pieces. This socket set is for the professional or the homeowner. The 72 tooth ratchet allows progress to be made in tight spaces where room is lacking. The sockets are six point and are well constructed. If this system had a handle incorporated in the case, this set would be unbeatable. I highly recommend this socket set.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been very pleased with the quality and effectiveness of the 3/8 Inch drive socket set. There are two features that instantly stood out to me when I first used it. #1 The ratchet has an awesome 5° arc swing which allows me to use it in tight spaces. Because of that, I will be grabbing this ratchet out of my tool kit instead my regular. #2 The lid stays open and doesn't shut on your hands. Also, because it's a tray I can use it as a little work space for small projects with little parts. I'm very pleased with the kit and recommend it to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first I was doubtful with the Clear-view top being way to fragile albeit handy. However after many successful drops through normal daily use it definitely has held up. It also was designed and fits right into the Dewalt storage boxes which helps me actually have it in the truck instead of leaving it at home sometimes. Have already put some rough use on the majority of the sockets but still going strong. Will see what it’s like in a year but still very happy with it.

I do really like the nut and bolt holding tray that comes built in. The ratchet is a 72 tooth which I’m surprised DeWALT didn’t go higher. I haven’t had any problems with this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been working with this set frequently for the last few weeks, completing household tasks, oil changes, assembling a weight set, etc. 
 First, let us go over my initial impressions. Unboxing the set, I immediately noticed the stout build quality of the exterior case. Boasting the classic Dewalt Yellow and featuring a clear logo lid, it is easy to navigate and ensure you have all of your sockets before putting the set away. The lid conveniently locks into place when opened; however, the lid hinge is potentially the biggest issue with the set. The hinge features the same clear plastic used on the lid (see photos), and I could see rough users having issues with the plastic cracking; however, no problems so far. 
 The bottom half of the case is solid, and the entire thing fits nicely in my Tough System 1.0 case. It features retractable handles that have proved invaluable for pulling the set out of the bottom of my toolbox. I can only imagine how nice it works with the 2.0 system. Inside the case is a removable tray that holds the sockets in two ways (see photos). Half click into the tray horizontally while the other half sit vertically around 3/8" pegs. Both offer a snug fit, and upon holding the inner tray upside down, only two sockets fell out, both coming from the peg mounting option. 
 A few other things to note: - The top of the inner tray has a cleverly designated slot for holding hardware, and it has come in handy. 
 - Not magnetic, but that would be a great feature. 
 - This set includes both Metric and SAE sockets. The sockets feel very high quality and have taken no wear. 
 - The ratchet is a solid chunk of metal that feels great in hand. 
 - The kit includes both a 3” and a 6” socket extension. 
 Overall, if you are looking for a solid set of sockets without a catch, these may be it. The design of the tray and case is very intuitive, and the entire system makes it easy to tackle a variety of jobs. With a better hinge and a magnetic tray (really just icing on the cake) I would truly have no complaints. These are a very good option for the casual user, unless you plan to be rough with the case.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this set to change an alternator today on an Envoy and it had just about everything I needed to get the job done. The things I like about the set are, smooth ratcheting operation, nice readable size markings, the knurled area on every socket and extension is a nice addition, 72 tooth ratchet works very well in tight spaces, the whole set has a very nice finish. It’s really nice that the tool insert removes easily and fits into a shallow tool box drawer and I also like the ability to attach other tool sets to this one. This set is high quality.
