Too small for my family and our diapers

2 out of 5 stars

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately this product is not for my family. While the look of the diaper pail is great, it just doesn’t meet our needs. To start this one is very short, it only comes up to about my knee in height, which means we had to bend down to get the diapers to go inside. Also my daughter wears size 5 diapers and they are too big for the trap door, making it so I have to push down on the dirty/soggy diaper to get it to drop into the pail. We also didn’t like the spring loaded trap door because of the fact that we had to push on the diapers to get them to go in. The final negative point I have about this diaper pail is that while it does hold the nasty diaper smells in, when the main compartment is opened to remove the bags (before cutting the bag or anything) there is a terrible smell that lingers in the can, which is a deal breaker for me. It will fit into most any nursery very well because of its looks, and this pail in particular holds quite a few diapers since it is wider than the model we currently have and with the new square refill bags, it takes quite a while to use them all. This is great because I don’t have to switch out the cartridges as often. The design of how to remove the bags has been improved soon as well. Instead of me having to pull the front off of the diaper pail like my previous model the razor blade to cut the bags are located at the top. Overall, this is t the product for my family, but at the price point, I would say the deal is hard to pass up. Thanks to stellar panel for providing me this item free of purchase for review.

Great Odor Control but Lacks Other Conveniences

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you rank odor control as your top priority in a diaper pail, this is the one you are looking for. The Diaper Genie Classic scored a 10 out of 10 in that department. However, this pail fell short on other features our house highly regards. We didn't like how difficult it was to push the diapers into the pail...if it isn't wrapped tight, you may get some mess on your hand. Changing each bag requires you to cut and re-tie the next bag in the roll which can be time consuming. The pail also requires you to use their specific refills, which can be pricey. Overall, we prefer other brands in the market to meet our priorities. Thank you to The Stellar Product Testing Panel for giving us a chance to try out this model.

Classic Diaper Pale

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, this diaper pail immediately captured my attention with its compact footprint and promises of superior odor control. True to its word, the pail's innovative square-shaped refill design proved to be a game-changer, with a 1 month and 2 hear old I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of diapers it held with no smell. One of its most appealing features is its user-friendly design, making it accessible even to my toddler who loves to help. However, I must note that the flap mechanism, while effective in sealing in odors, occasionally requires a significant amount of force to operate, particularly for smaller hands. Nevertheless, this minor inconvenience has yet to detract from its overall performance. Though its lower height does require some bending down during use. In summary, for parents seeking a reliable solution to diaper odor management without sacrificing space or functionality, the Diaper Genie Classic Pail proves to be a worthy investment. Its compact size, generous capacity, and user-friendly design make it a great addition to any home with littles in diapers.

Great odor blocking

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and I’m so glad I did.! It far exceeds the odor blocking of other pails I’ve tried, and once I got past the learning curve of the bags, I found it really useful. It’s a very sleek, minimalist design, so it’s not at all an eyesore in the nursery, and I love the press button lid. It also locks which is handy with a toddler around. It’s definitely a high quality product. The only thing I didn’t love was how hard you have to push diapers in through the initial barrier, but the for blocking is really worth it, and I don’t see another way that could be accomplished. I love that it has a built in cutting system for the bags, which makes changing it out easy, and the square-shaped refill is really unique. Overall, going to be purchasing another one for downstairs, because I’ve found it super handy, and best of all, no smell!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received Diaper Genie's Classic Pail as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel - thank you! My family is still gushing over this sleek, compact sized diaper pail because of its TRUE odor control. I love the square-shaped refill design and feel that it holds more diapers than the previous design. We go a solid 4 maybe 5 days in-between changing the bags which is very impressive. I love the ease of opening the pail while holding my baby, and he very oddly loves watching me do it too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a chance to test this product as part of a Stellar review panel. When it was arrived I was surprised at how small and light the box was! The design is quite compact and blends into the background, which I love because I use this pail in a high traffic area of my house. Even though the footprint is small, there’s no sacrifice on quality. I find the odor control to be great, that it’s easy to dispose of diapers with one hand, and that it’s quieter than other pails because there’s no stepping to open it or contraction while you shut it. The square refills were new to me but easy enough to understand and seem less wasteful than other options. This is a high quality product that I definitely recommend, especially if you’re trying to save on space.

Genie lacking magic

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had been curious to try the diaper genie because our cute little nursery was beginning to smell like a barnyard. We couldn’t contain the odor and wanted to try and a new diaper pail. We received the diaper genie through Stellar Product Testing panel and were happy to give it a try! The look and size of the diaper genie are great - and the single push button is convenient. At the price point, it’s a super good option for a baby’s nursery. “Genie” however is a bit misleading. I kind of expected it to be a fool proof solution to our odor needs. It contains the odor to a point - and maybe it’s not fair to expect too much… they are dirty diapers after all. My advice would be to change out the bag frequently - even if the package says it can hold xx number of bags - just switch it out. That’s your best bet at keeping odors at bay. The bags are a little tricky to figure out initially. You have to tie the bags at both ends. It’s not super intuitive, but doesn’t take long to figure it out. I think I would still rather just place a new bag in the pail instead of pulling down a roll and tying it every time. At the end of the day, no pail can completely mask the odor of dirty diapers - and I think this pail is a solid option on a budget.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar Product testing panel for providing me with the Diaper Genie Classic pail. I really like the look and design of the pail, it blends in really well with the neutral palette of our home. The pail is of a pretty good size and holds a good amount of diapers. My favorite feature is its odor control. We had a pail by a different company previously and the room and pail itself smelled terribly after using it for some time. Diaper Genie pail is very effective in odor control and we love that. Overall, it's a good product and you get a good value for the price.

Worth It In The Long Term

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product through Stellar Product Testing Panel. Pros: -Little hands cannot reach in and play with dirty diapers -Contains smells well -Can stick dirty wipes from potty trained toddlers in -Fits in small spaces fabulously -Easy to clean -Streamlined look -Fits a lot of diapers (emptied once a week with two kids in diapers) -Square shape is easier to get larger diapers down in -Each bag cartridge can be used about 3 times. Cons: -Confusing to figure out how to insert and change bag cartridges Overall, I would recommend this product, and I will be buying more replacement cartridges for years to come. My toddlers will use wet wipes for many years after potty training, and this is a great place to put them since wipes aren’t flushable. Also, my period will come back eventually, and this will be perfect for keeping used pads with unsavory scents in.

Excellent diaper pail

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my Diaper Genie Classic Pail. The amazing convenience of having it in my baby's room is a life saver. We love the simple look and of course the quality of the materials. It's is made to last. The pail easily fits in a corner where it does not take up too much space at all. I enjoy changing my baby's diaper amd have no worries in the world that thw room will have a foul odor in comparison to throwing it away in a simple trash can. It keeps every odor safely enclosed until I fill up the pail with all the dirty diapers. I could never go back and choose trash can over the diaper. The refill is very easy to exchange as well. I did it with absolutely no issues. Overall I love it and will continue to use it. Thanks to the Stellar product testing panel for giving my the opportunity to test this amazing product.

Odors are obsolete

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received this diaper pail as a part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and boy were we impressed. It is a simple white design that works seamlessly in any room. But more importantly it really traps odors in. I thought our other brand pail did a good job, but after getting this one I realized I was wrong. Smells are no question trapped in this one. The large square opening is handy, but I will say you have to pay mind to wrap up poopy diapers well. This is because of the odor lock contraption, if they are not wrapped well you will get the outside of the pail liner messy, causing you to have to change the liner more often. My one major con is there is no toddler lock. While this is not a problem during the infant stage, I found my toddler trying to press toys inside the diaper pail....which is not ideal. That aside, I would highly recommend this pail to anyone.

Diaper Pail that gets the job done

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the short but widened of this diaper pail. It has a small footprint and takes up minimal space in our nursery. I love that the open area to drop the diaper into is wider than usual and gives plenty of room for a rather full diaper to be inserted. (It has a square shaped opening which accommodates for more space.) However, there are a couple downsides. First, there is a hinge door that you need to push through to insert the diapers and it narrows the opening for large diapers and can create a mess for overly full or not well closed dirty diapers. Second, there isn’t a great odor locking barrier and everytime you open it you get to smell EVERYTHING that has been disposed of in there. It is a great quality diaper pail, but does have room for some necessary improvements. My favorite feature of it was the wider opening (with the hinge door that is supposed to lock-in odor removed). It accommodates toddler sized diaper loads and the wideness of the pail fits a LOT more diapers than normal. I’m grateful that Stellar Product Testing Panel sent me this item to try out and use in my home. It’s great to have a go-to place for dirty diapers!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this diaper pail. Upon first receiving the pail I was very impressed with the size of the pail and the fact that it was more wide and less tall thus making it able to hold a large amount of diapers still. This pail does not have a foot pedal which took some getting used to and requires both hands to be available to open the pail and dispose of the diaper. It took some getting used to having to push the diaper through the lever down into the pail. I was afraid the bag would get soiled and this would make my hands get dirty but after some practice this never happened. We have the diaper pail in our living room and have never smelled a dirty diaper, I would say this feature is excellent! Replacing the square bags has not been an issue. My favorite part of the diaper pail actually is the lever and not having to use a foot pedal. I notice the diapers are not getting stuck together and I am not having to adjust them in the bag to make room for more. I really like this diaper pail overall!

EXTREME ODOR CONTROL

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Diaper Genie has absolutely changed my routine. I used a different pail previously, which I did not like because it had a putrid smell everytime you went to use it. Diaper genie has total odor control, anytime I go to dispose a diaper it’s completely odorless. I love that it has its own bags to use and a tool for you to cut the bag so you don’t waste any space. When I first changed the refill I had some trouble figuring it out, but after a quick search I saw a video from the brand and that showed me how to refill properly. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this diaper pail.

Better than the more expensive version

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Prior to receiving this “classic” diaper genie pail, I already had a “complete” diaper genie system we received from our baby registry. The ‘complete’ system has a foot step opening. this ‘classic’ system has a one-hand opening. I had originally thought that I wouldn’t like the hand opening since a foot opening sounds more appealing, but I have actually come to prefer the ‘classic’ system. The odor control is a lot better than the complete system, and I think it has to do with the opening mechanism. At first, I did think it felt kind of weird, pushing the diaper down into the opening, but I’ve gotten used to it. The classic system is more compact as well and fits nicely in the nursery. While it is more compact, it actually holds more diapers, which is a win-win. This new system also has a new type of bag that’s used in it. One square bag replacement system is supposed to be equivalent to three round bag replacement systems. However, I found that we went through these bags much more quickly than the round bags. The square bags were slightly more complicated to figure out how to replace, but it didn’t take me more than a couple of minutes to install the first time. Overall, I really like this ‘classic’ system, and I do prefer it to the more expensive option we had already had. The odor control is actually really, really great. We love the size. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending me this item in return for my honest feedback.

It is a diaper fortress

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the simplicity of this diaper pail. But overall, I don't love it. It's not intuitive to use, it took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to interpret the refill instructions. To put a diaper inside of it, you have to push through a lever system, and I don't know if that's for some of the smell-proofing or what, but I hate it. Whenever I place a diaper in there, especially my toddler's, I feel like it's at risk of being squished out of the diaper before I can push it into the container area. I would recommend a pail that does not use that mechanism; it completely ruined my experience. And my husband hates it. The golden lining is it dissuades my children from trying to play with it/ use it. I also feel like it holds a lot of diapers, and I love that the square bags seem more ergonomic as designed with purpose. Thank you to the Sellar Product Testing Panel for allowing me to try this new pail.

DIAPER GENIE DAD SIZED

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Being a busy father of two, finding gear that simplifies my day is essential. As a participant in the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I had the opportunity to try out the updated diaper pail. The design of the diaper pail impressed me with its clean, modern exterior that seamlessly fits our nursery's theme. It avoids excessive branding, which I appreciate. In terms of quality and value, the diaper pail meets expectations. It's constructed from sturdy plastic that feels durable, although it's a tad lightweight. This lightness can lead to issues, as my active 9-month-old managed to tip it over, highlighting the need for a stronger latch on the lid. Regarding functionality, the diaper pail performs as expected. It effectively contains odors, and its operation is smooth. My favorite aspect is the square refill design, which earns it the "Dad approved" title. This design makes it easy for someone with larger hands to push diapers into the bag. Swapping out refills without hassle or complex instructions was also a plus. Overall, while there are minor improvements needed, such as a more secure lid latch, the diaper pail offers good value for its affordable price and practical features like the square refill design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this diaper pail. Seven babies later and we had never invested in a diaper pail...I must admit that I didn't think they were necessary. I have to confess now that I was wrong...I love this thing! My favorite thing was the ease of use. Our toddler even loves to put his baby sister's diapers in it himself...the kids fight over who puts the diapers in! I was seriously impressed with the odor control as well. We really put it to the test with multiple in diapers currently. This pail was holding a TON of diapers (some that smelled absolutely awful) and we never had a whiff of evidence!! I found changing the refills to be pretty straight forward too. The directions were simple and easy to follow. Overall, I was throughly impressed with this and will highly recommend it to everyone!

Cute and Compact Pail

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this diaper pail from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I actually love the look and size of this diaper pail! I never thought that this brands diaper pails in the past were that good looking but this one is super cute and fits great in the nursery. Definitely fits great and has a cute simple look! The value is great and comparable to other brands and actually the bags hold a lot and are a good value! My other diaper pail always left a bad smell behind after opening it to use it but this one with the push shield does not leave a bad after odor after using it!!! Wooo!! You do have to push a little hard and not a huge fan of having to touch the push thing (kinda unsanitary) but I’ll take that over the after diaper pail smell my other one had. The square shaped refills worked great and were very easy to install for a newbie like myself! Overall, I liked the fit of the pail in the room and that it controlled the smell when I put a diaper in!

Does the job

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this diaper pail from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. This diaper pail is petite and looks nice in any room setting. The refill box is located at the top of the genie and is shaped like a square. Above it is the clamp that locks in the odor. I found the refill bags to be interesting. You tie a knot in the plastic and thread it through the clamp. Then each time you insert a diaper, it pushes the bag down further. When the container is full, you cut it on a secured blade in the holder and tie it to dispose. Then you retie for the next bag. The only things I liked about this genie are the odor control and the classic look of it. I found the rest of the features to be lacking or cumbersome. Firstly, this genie comes with a button to open the container on top instead of a foot pedal. This is not the biggest deal but something to bear in mind when dealing with messy diapers. Secondly, the fact that you have to tie the bottom of the bag was annoying for me. I like my bags to have a sealed a base and the knot is definitely an extra step in the setup process each time. Thirdly, the clamp doesn’t open automatically by opening the lid. This means that you have to push it open with your hand while trying to squeeze a blowout diaper inside. If you think your hands are staying anywhere close to clean, think again. This one really grossed me out. Fourthly, you have to cut the bag when it’s full. The blade is definitely safe but I much prefer having precut bag refills. Think about if your toddler gets a hold of the refill container and pulls out the whole refill box. In this style refills, it would be a nightmare to put it all back together to be useable again. With precut bags, you can always use the bags properly even if a toddler removed them from the holder. Overall, it gets the job done but really has no frills too it. There is definitely room for improvement with this genie.
