Q: How large is the actual opening? I am thinking to use this for cat litter disposal, and wonder what size scoop would be able to push open the flap to dump clumps into bag.

A: They came out with one for cats called the litter genie

As an alternative we do have a cat litter disposal system that was created specifically for cats. A: We have only tested the Diaper Genie pails for newborn diaper usage. The Diaper Genie Classic can hold up to 55 new born diapers.

Misleading packaging
The packaging mentions prominently on the exterior that 1 jumbo (square refill) =4 round refills and it also mentions that it comes with a square fill. It doesn’t say it’s ONLY compatible with the square refill. So the round refills that were gifted to me are not useful at all. It works well other than this, which was a waste of refills unfortunately

Wish I could return it....
I have used other models of the Diaper Genie(Old & New) and found them to keep oders at bay. So I really thought that the Classic model would do the same. But it does not. I wish that I could return it to the store for a refund but that is not possible and just gross.
