A: It is not "alcohol free", but natural grain alcohol is the only alcohol it contains. It is usually a derivative from natural/essential oils and is not harmful for skin and has no irritants.

A: There is an alcohol free version by this company but this particular product has natural alcohol. If you want alcohol free, buy the "Gentle Balance Toner" of this brand. The label says "alcohol free". It has a purple lid. I use 100% witch hazel and even though it has 14% natural alcohol, it does not sting or dry out my face. It is not like rubbing alcohol.

A: Hi Summertime. The main difference is the additional Witch Hazel extract added for skincare benefits to our Dickinson's Original Pore Perfecting Toner. The T.N. Dickinson's Astringent does not include the extract.

A: It’s exactly the same. I used Dickinson witch hazel for decades and when they started to get cute with packaging the identical product in different packaging I started buying the store brand of which hazel which is also identical.

A: It does have a natural smell from the ingredients (as opposed to being artificially perfumed), and I do feel it's kind of pungent. But it doesn't stick around, and it's a smell you'll get used to as you use the product.

A: It has a slight smell, but you get used to it, and it doesn't stay on your face. At first I didn't like the smell, but now I like it.

Dickinson’s Witch Hazel (blue label) is an all-natural, fully distilled product that has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its pharmaceutical properties. Clinical evaluations were conducted and presented to the FDA to demonstrate that this product was useful in relieving irritation and swelling to due minor insect bites, minor bruises, abrasions and cuts and scrapes. This product is primarily marketed as a first-aid item in most retail outlets. Dickinson’s Pore Perfecting toner on the other hand is a cosmetic product that is used to help cleanse and tone and condition skin. No pharmaceutical claims are made on this product. In addition to being a distilled product it also contains an un-distilled witch hazel extract as part of its formulation.
