About the Book

New concepts, new ideas, and new objects diffuse through a society in a fairly predictable, multi-stage process over an indeterminate period of time. In recent years many social scientists representing various disciplines have accepted the methods and findings of diffusion research and it has attained legitimacy and prominence. KLAUS MUSMANN is Collection Development Librarian at the University of Redlands, CA. He previously published The Helen & Vernon Farquhar Collection of California and the Great Southwest. Socio-technical Systems Theory and Job Design in Libraries was published in College and Research Libraries, and other articles have appeared in Libri, Law Library Journal, and Comparative Labor Law.

WILLIAM H. KENNEDY is Head Reference Librarian at the University of Redlands, CA. He is a contributor to America: History and Life and Historical Abstracts.
