[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked this for my son, who is learning about weather currently in his schooling. My initial thought was that it would be a nice little visual for him during his studies, but it has actually become a whole lot more than that. This Discovery Toy Tornado Lab is a product that is ready to go almost right out of the box. I say "almost" because it does require batteries that are not included in the box. Once those are installed, everything is easy - all you have to do is add water and turn it on to see a tornado in action. However, it's more than that. It comes with small foam blocks and plastic beads you can put into it to act as debris in order for you to see how things can move inside of the funnel of a tornado. The clear window in the top of the cylinder gives you the perfect view inside of the funnel as well. I love the sound effects, as well as the speed change. Although this product says ages 2+, it can definitely be used for many ages - not only for entertainment but education as well. This Discovery Mindblown - Toy Tornado Lab is highly recommended!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids really love this toy tornado lab. They had countless fun watching it whirl. They like that there are different speeds they can set to watch the tornado gets stronger and weaker. It also came with beads that they can put into the water to see how the tornado picks up objects and spins them around. Unfortunately after 2 weeks of playing with it, the tornado lab starts to leak a fair amount at the bottom so they could not play with it anymore.

Easy to assemble out of the box and my nephew has learned so much about tornados just by using this toy. Hours of learning and imaginary play, I would strongly suggest this toy to parents and caregivers. We take it out every night and look at it for hours on end.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 10 year old spent the first few days captivated by the Tornado Lab, but the novelty soon wore off. (Hence the 4-star rating.) This cyclone controller is a non-messy STEM activity for home or the classroom, but doesn't embrace slow play for reinforced learning. It would've been nice to find a pamphlet of facts about tornadoes and questions to encourage thinking/discussion inside the package. The unit stands approx. 10" tall and 5" wide at the base. Set up was effortless - outside of needing batteries, which were not included. Watching the tornado was hypnotic, and my son enjoyed it even more when he incorporated the reusable storm debris. He did note the following: The ability to control the speed of the tornado didn't alter much with the 5-speed dial. The sound effect was off-putting – it was more like a loud static noise. The window inside the cover was often coated with a mist, making it difficult to peer into the eye of the storm. All things considered, the Tornado Lab would make a great novelty toy for a weather wiz, lover of science or a future storm chaser!

Set up was easy enough that they did it all themselves. The storm sound is a little weird, but okay. I do wish the included poster had information about tornados or even a bigger picture of one.

The instructions were very easy to follow. Only complaint is the orange knob on the front. It’s hard to turn and we had to hold it down tight to make sure it wouldn’t fall over when turning the knob.

So I'm trying to teach my kid and watch my brothers 8 month old. Not only did my kid get what I was telling him by seeing it. But it totally mesmerized the baby. I kept that thing going so we could finish science lessons. Now he has it in his room and can watch it anytime he wants. He says it now reminds him of when we lived in Texas.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was super excited to try out this Toy Tornado Lab from Discovery Mindblown. The container is really easy to fill with water. It comes with a few Styrofoam squares and plastic beads that you can put into the water, but honestly we preferred it without. You can set the strength of the tornado using the dial on the front, but to be honest you really can't tell too much of a difference between the lowest and highest settings. There is a sound button that is supposed to be storm sounds, but it really just sounds like a bunch of wind and static. The top in clear so you can look down into the eye of the tornado, but the moisture of the water blocked the view and the size of tornado inside the container wasn't as big as the image shows on the front of the box. It would be really neat if there was a light incorporated into the tornado lab, with maybe lightning effects that you observe. But there is no light and that was really disappointing. Overall, this would be a perfect addition to an office for a little desk accessory, but in terms of being an actual toy for a younger child, I cannot see this holding their interest for too long, unfortunately. I would still recommend this though, as it a cute novelty toy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toy was a hit, not only with my younger son, but my older daughters, as well. Setup was pretty simple. Upon opening the box, there was a plate with a screw to take off the bottom of the toy in order to put in three AAA batteries, which were not included. All that was left to do after that was fill it up to the fill line, push the main power button, and turn the dial to set it to the preferred tornado "strength". My only complaint about the dial was that it was a little difficult for my younger son to turn on his own, especially if it was slightly wet and slippery after filling the tank. Once he got it going, though, his favorite was the highest setting of 5, or "CHAOS!". The pieces that are added in order to put in the tornado are fun, as the kids seem mesmerized watching them as they are sucked into the tornado. It's also cool that they can look into the top and see the tornado from the top down through the window, however, it does tend to get a little fogged up sometimes. This really is a neat toy and has already provided hours of entertainment for my children in the short time that we have owned it. I think this really would appeal to kids that are really into science, like mine.

He loves the ability to control the speed and simulate different velocity type tornadoes. He also loves the sound effects it makes as well as the ability to look through the top and see into the eye of the Tornado. This toy is perfect for my son as he is very interested in weather.

The Tornado Lab allows you to create a tornado at home by adding water and letting the machine spin it. It has various speed levels to choose and you can track the changes between them. This toy is great for creating and learning about tornadoes. My grandsons have really enjoyed this Toy Tornado. I would recommend this educational toy to anyone looking for one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just want to say the concept is definitely there, but it needs major improvement. The 1st major issue I want to point out is after a certain amount of time it basically overheats and no longer could I turn off the machine. The batteries were really hot when taking them out which is scary. Now to the minor issues that could definitely enhance this item put some type of lighting in the tornado so it could be more visible I had to use my flashlight to really give it a cool effect. Last, but not least the sound effects was horrible. The sound doesn't give that realistic effect to a Tornado. It was too much of a cheap washed out sound. The only reason I gave it a 3 stars because it was a decent display to show my children how a tornado forms.
