Q: Are there microbeads in this bottle? I’m asking because my state banned them.

A: Thanks for reaching out to us. The Dove Gentle Exfoliating Body Wash does not contain microbeads. In our personal care products, we now use mostly silica which is derived from natural mineral sources such as quartz or sand. We found that silica was the most direct replacement for plastic beads. I barely ever see this body wash nowadays in store but I LOVE IT! Yes the beads get stuck in my shower and in crevices of my body but I love the exfoliation and how it keeps my skin hydrated and smooth.

This is the only body wash that I approved from Dove and has repurchase many time. The other lines products only smell good and doesn’t even really lather up or feel clean. This body wash contain some type of micro bead which help gently exfoliate your skin every time you use without having to buy another separate exfoliator. The scent is average to me. I would describe it as a clean smell and nothing else. If you don’t really care about good smelling bath product, this is a great choice. Me personally, I use perfume and scented lotion anyway so this is perfect for me. I tend to have ingrown hair so exfoliation is a! important step in my routine so this helps cut off the time so I would only need to use an actual exfoliator once a week.

I recently decided to try this body wash because the one I normally buy was out. All I can say is yikes, I have dry skin that needs exfoliation so the gritty texture was nice but the formula is so DRYING. I rinsed and rinsed and when I dried off my skin was so dry and thirsty, I had to use extra lotion just to feel better. I do not recommend this if you have dry skin because it is very unpleasantly drying.

I pretty much live for Dove’s gentle exfoliating body wash! My love for this incredible product goes way back to high school! Still after all this time, I’m a sucker for this body wash! I have very sensitive skin and many other soaps I’ve tried aggravates my skin! I use Dove all year a round no matter what season it is, it thoroughly exfoliates my skin, leaving it smooth and hydrated! I even use it on my face during a shower, it assists well with taking my makeup off!

I used my loofa to better exfoliate my skin. The scent isn’t too overwhelming, it’s very light and subtle with a sweet but not fruity smell. I recommend if you’re looking for a good smelling, skin smoothening soap.

I've used the Dove exfoliating body wash for years now and have loved it. I finally ran out of my stock and ended up buying this new packaged version. The formula has definitely changed. This current version is nowhere near as exfoliating as the previous version. It feels just like the OG Dove body washes that are a thick cream. I'll probably try the exfoliating bar version after I finish this bottle but overall I'm disappointed that they reduced the exfoliating ingredients.
