A: Hi, thank you for contacting Dr. Bronner's! Our Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner is a mild detergent (not a soap) and is our hard surface all-purpose cleaner made of plant-based surfactants with natural spruce and fir needle oils. Due to Sal Suds being a detergent and not a soap, we don’t recommend using it for the body. It is best to use it specifically as an all-purpose household cleaner. A: Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Bronner's! Our Sal Suds Biodegradable Cleaner is an excellent all-purpose cleaner that can be used on just about any hard surface. To do so, just combine 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) Sal Suds with 1 qt. (1 L) water or in a spray bottle. We suggest adding the water first then the detergent to avoid a bubble party. Then all you need to do is spray down your surfaces and wipe them down with a damp cloth. Sal Suds is my go-to for cleaning all around the house. I've been using it for my laundry, and just a quick glug is enough to get a whole load clean and fresh! I love the fragrance (the scent does NOT linger on fabric or surfaces like perfumes, but leaves a freshness behind.)

I have limited use with Sal Suda, however, I have found it does an excellent job on mirrors, windows, in the bathroom, and for laundry. I have switched from using the commercialized detergents. I am very happy there is something I can use and be confident it is not harmful to humans, animals, and the planet. Thank you!

We buy this by the gallon because we use it for so many things around the house: washing dishes, laundry in HE washing machine, cleaning the bathroom, all-purpose cleaning spray (see Lisa Bronner's recipe in Soap & Soul), floor mopping, and tough cleaning tasks. I love Sal Suds. I've been using Sal Suds for household cleaning for years. Using one product with the capabilities to clean multiple areas and items in and around the house and patio is amazing. I especially like the GIY recipe for Soft Scrub provided by Lisa Bronner. I get amazing results and love the fact that my house, me and my dog are not exposed to any harmful and toxic ingredients. I've used Sal Suds as my dish washing liquid for years. I mix a ration of 1:1 with water (in a 32 oz bottle), add 20 drops of orange or lemon essential oil and I'm good to go. Cuts grease and leaves no residue.
