WONDERFUL VERSION!
Of course if you've seen the original 1960s version, you are going to be tempted to compare the two. My advice is, see each for the masterpiece it is. They are simply different artistic interpretations. In this 'Illumination' version, I loved how they made the Grinch seem more human and I saw him in several people I actually know. IMO it's a great lesson for kids (and adults) to see someone who's struggling with grief and depression and have them realize they're just possibly unhappy because of past events. The animation is superb and breath taking. I loved the interaction between Max and Grinch in this one (in the original the treatment of the dog was sometimes upsetting for me). I also liked how the Cindy Lou character was so outgoing, adventurous and the protagonist. Nice to see female characters with so much life. Cumberbatch as the Grinch was a great choice. He gives Grinch so much feeling and human emotion. Boris Karloff was a genius in the original, but the overall vibe of this version is not as scary. Highly recommended, you will watch it over and over and it will be one of your Christmas traditions for years to come.

My 7 month old daughter gets so excited to watch this movie. So much so I decided to buy it to have for her since the holidays are over now. The big bonus was the digital copy, now I have it on all of our devices and tvs. Side note for future buyers, just because the digital copy code date expired doesn’t meant the code won’t work. My code was expired on all of the movies I have bought lately but all of the codes still worked. Don’t miss out!

I m Such a fan of this movie! The Story is amazing ( New to me as i'm from France) colors are so pretty, such a magic movie to watch with your kids. I ordered a few Blu Ray for our thanksgiving trip, long hours in the car and this will make it much easier on all of us.
