Dry Black Beans - 1LB - Good & Gather™

Went into Target for a quick run for groceries so I decided to try these dry black beans along with the dry chickpeas. To my surprise as I go to open them and put them in water for the next day I see small little bugs starting to surface. And it just wasn’t one it was multiple bugs. I am very disturbed and have never seen anything like this. Food should be handled very delicately and with proper sanitation. 0/10

These beans have more fiber per gram than other brands such as Goya. They also taste good; they taste like black beans. Not much more to say.

Black beans done right. Could go on and on with each of the Good and Gather lineup of beans, legumes, grains etc., but I’m not. Suffice to say they are easy to like and glad they are being offered. 4.1 Stars.

Not sure what happened, but these beans didn't soften as much as normal.

I love these and make all kinds of dishes. Easy to use and the texture is always good when cooked. Always taste as they should.

The tiniest beans I have ever scene. At best 1/4 the size of a normal black bean. Avoid buying this item from online because you don't get to see what you are going to get.

I often buy bags of these beans just to have on hand. They cook well and are versatile for a variety of dishes.

Good quality. Minimal dirt, rocks and bad beans.

The package states its 454 grams in weight it was only 400 grams. And many of the beans had to be discarded they were damaged or moldy. Don’t buy these beans.

Good price for sure, but the bag came to me looking pretty beat up. Picked out the bad pieces and they tasted fine

I like the price, but I won't be buying these again because it's too much of a hassle to pick out the bad (moldy) beans. The attached photo shows a sample of some that I had to remove, with a few good beans at the top to show the comparison. The actual ratio was more like 95% good ones to 5% really bad ones, but what makes the sorting process annoying is that the bad beans come in a wide range of sub-optimality, with probably 20+% in some state of less-good than the perfect sample shown at the top of my photo, so it's not just a simple process of quickly searching for the white-colored outliers. I'm sure there's no health hazard, and many people would probably be fine with leaving the moldy ones in, but I'd rather pay an extra $0.69 or so for a bag from a different brand where all of the beans are good to go in the pot straight away after a quick sanity check and rinse. I bought two bags of these beans and the quality (or lack thereof) was the same for both.

A 3 for me but overall, a solid 4-star item. These are excellent for the price but I go for black beans that have more fiber content and these fall just a little short. These do have the creaminess in texture that I love in black beans so they are great for the flavor and in general. If they just had a little more fiber. Most black beans have about 15 grams of fiber for this serving size (1/4 cup). But you can't beat these for the price is fiber is not a big deal for you. I have bought them before for a friend of mine when picking up groceries for her. She doesn't need the extra fiber and she loves them as a side dish or added to her soups and salads for the color and texture.

These are great! And they have pressure cooker instructions on the package that work perfectly in my Instant Pot.

These beans were placed in an airtight container and stored in the pantry. A week later, the container was filled with meal moths trying to escape the container. Luckily, none of them did, but all of the beans were tossed in the bin outside to prevent further contamination of anything else in the pantry. We love the Good & Gather brand, so this is hopefully a disappointing one-off.
