Q: Are there lids for ember mug?

submitted by Rosa - 3 years ago
  • A: Ember now has lids for both the 10oz and 14oz ceramic mugs! The great thing about the lid is it not only helps prevent spills, it doubles the life of the battery!

submitted byBrand Expert - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi there! We currently don't have lids for the Ember mug at this moment, (Just our Travel Mugs). We'd be happy to pass this interest along to our team!

submitted byEmber, Inc. - 3 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: no lids. I put a silicone lid on mine if my coffee sits for awhile. this extends the length of the charge.

Q: Does the white version stain at all, and if so is it easy to clean/remove the stain?

submitted by Matt - 4 years ago
  • A: Mine stained in about a month. And I rinse mine every day I use it and probably a handwashing once a week.

submitted byNH - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Matt, thanks for reaching out! For best care and maintenance, we would recommend rinsing your mug with water soon after finishing your beverage to avoid letting it sit on the paint for too long. For best results, we also recommend hand-washing the Ember with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge.

  • A: I have two white mugs. both are stained and I do take care of them. I will not buy the white again. other than that, I love the ember mugs.

Q: On my copper mug the copper color has chipped off on the bottom. Not all the way but 2 scrapes I am concerned I’m ingesting copper particles.??? Very concerned

submitted by Lisa - 9 months ago
  • A: Sorry to hear you are having an issue with the Mug's coating. Reach out to our team via email at support@ember.com. Rest assured the mug/its metallic coating are FDA-approved food-safe and non-toxic

Q: What is the country of origin?

submitted by WhereIsItMade - 1 year ago
  • A: Country of origin is China.

Q: Is it safe to pour boiling water directly in this mug? For example, i boil water and want to make a cup of tea. i'd normally pour between 190F to 200F water directly in the cup to steep the tea bag...

submitted by Dane - 1 year ago
  • A: The recommendation is to use hot water, not boiling as the boiling water could overheat the battery.

submitted byBrand Expert - 1 year ago

Q: Do you have to sign up for an account to begin using this device? If so, do I have to consent to data collection like location services?

submitted by Liberty - 2 years ago
  • A: The Ember Mug App does require an account to adjust the set temperature, however the Ember mug will heat to the default set temperature of 135F without the app. Android does require location services to be turned on for bluetooth. We also have an option to opt out of sharing data with Ember.

Q: How does the battery recharge? USB or plug?

submitted by eileen - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi eileen, thanks for reaching out! Each Ember Mug is sold fully packaged with a charging coaster included, along with a US 2-prong power source wall plug-in that can accept anything between 100VAC and 240VAC.

My wife and I got two of these and loved them at first. What a great concept for parents that have to walk away from their coffee sometimes only to have it be cold when you get back. We used them regularly- the battery didn't last long but it wasn't a huge problem to use the charging coaster. About a month ago, I noticed the mug would keep shutting off or disconnecting from the app. No problem, tech needs to be reset/rebooted from time to time. Unpair, delete and reinstall the app right? It got worse so I tried it again twice. Now the mug won't go into pairing mode so the app can't recognize it. This would have still been ok since the default temp is 135 even if the app isn't involved but the mug doesn't stay on. I submitted a service request that has gone unanswered and found that others have had this experience too. Same issues with my wife's mug. Coffee isn't supposed to be this aggravating nor should $100 mugs.

great cup

I love this cup, in fact I have two, one is 7-8 yrs old. I've had to replace the charging plate FIVE times, due to the prongs sticking in the down position. I just read a review from "Steve" who said put a drop of vinegar on them, wait awhile, and they pop back up again. And it WORKS!! HAPPY!!!! He also said use MTK oil after but I dont know what that is. The other thing is alot of people are upset that the app connection doesnt work. I found that too, so I stopped using it and my cup works just fine. Just a thought. :)

I have had my Ember mug for about two years and have needed to replace the charging pad and now the replacement charger has also failed. POOR quality charging pads. Save your money unless you just want to have a nice looking mug that doesn’t hold a charge. I’ll never spent any more money on these products.

Disappointed

We've had the mug about two years, and the two contact heating pins in the charging base have lost their 'springy-ness" and no longer make good contact with the bottom of the mug. The unit, therefore, is essentially worthless. Too bad, because when it was working, it was great.

Major deficiency in charging battery

I've had an Ember mug for over 3 years. It continues to do its job. I would give a higher rating but for one huge flaw: When a mug is placed on its charging plate, it can either charge or reach / hold the set temperature, not both. It would seem a rather easy fix to have it switch from heating to charging once the temperature is changed, going back and forth as necessary. Or, of course even better, by allowing it to do both at once, likely a harder fix. A fluctuation of a few degrees while charging is not important; having the coffee hot enough but only for a little while because the battery needs charging is not good.

Poor reliability in spite of the cost!

My wife received the mug as a gift. It quit charging unless you fiddled around with placing the mug on the base. Unfortunately, she didn't complain as it was a gift. The warranty has expired. The problem is one of the spring contact pins in the base seems to have lost it's "spring". I don't think it would be worth the cost to buy a replacement base.

The Mug stopped working within a month. Support response was awful. They kept sending the same email. No one to ask for help. If you have a bad one, you might as well throw it out, because they don't really car.

My 3rd Ember coffee cup

I have used Ember cups since they first came out years ago. It is my ONLY coffee cup at the office. I absolutely love it. I have had both 10 oz and 14 oz cups and prefer the 14 oz. But, I have loved all of the cups I have had and can't recommend it highly enough.

I have had my ember cup for a year and a half and have already gone through two charging stations. The design is terrible as the pins get stuck and then will not charge the battery on the cup. The same thing has happened to my daughter’s cup, so it is no coincidence. This is definitely a design problem.

I’ve enjoyed my Ember cup for nearly a year—it performed flawlessly for the first several months. However, about nine months in, I began to notice a problem with the charging plate. One of its two prongs started sticking, intermittently preventing a full charge despite my occasional cleanings. Now, at the 12-month mark, the prong’s spring has completely broken, leaving the cup unable to charge at all. Given the initial promise of quality and performance, this durability issue is disappointing. I kindly request a free replacement so I can continue to rely on the product I once loved.

Great idea But

For people thinking about this product. Great idea and works like advertised. But bigger is better. The reason our coffee cups are small at home is NOT because we don’t drink alot of coffee. It’s because it gets cold. Ember go to your local coffee shop and look at the sizes and what people are ordering. Yup those cups are much bigger than the 10 and 14 oz cups you offer. Like I said we have small cups at home and office because a large cup gets cold. You Ember have solved that problem so we can keep our coffee hot. But do I want to keep leaving my desk to refill a 10oz cup ? Not really. If you made an office/work mug that’s incorporated today’s love for a large cup of coffee that stays hot. That my friend is a winning combination. I will buy a 20oz plus mug immediately. As for my 10 oz mug you’re probably going to see it on Facebook marketplace like so many others. Sorry

BATTERY DIES TOO QUICKLY

Not worth is to go through the trouble of keeping charged. My mug was 95% this Am (even though I charged it for hours and shut off) and within 70 minutes it was down to 6%. IF you enjoy one cup of coffee in the AM, it's fine. If you like that second or third cup, not worth it.
