Q: Are there lids for ember mug?

submitted by Rosa - 4 years ago
  • A: no lids. I put a silicone lid on mine if my coffee sits for awhile. this extends the length of the charge.

submitted byRobshop - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi there! We currently don't have lids for the Ember mug at this moment, (Just our Travel Mugs). We'd be happy to pass this interest along to our team!

submitted byEmber, Inc. - 4 years ago

  • A: Don’t buy from this company. Mine died after 4 months and they never responded to my many requests for help or a replacement

submitted byChristineg - 2 months ago
  • A: Ember now has lids for both the 10oz and 14oz ceramic mugs! The great thing about the lid is it not only helps prevent spills, it doubles the life of the battery!

Q: Does the white version stain at all, and if so is it easy to clean/remove the stain?

submitted by Matt - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Matt, thanks for reaching out! For best care and maintenance, we would recommend rinsing your mug with water soon after finishing your beverage to avoid letting it sit on the paint for too long. For best results, we also recommend hand-washing the Ember with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge.

  • A: I have two white mugs. both are stained and I do take care of them. I will not buy the white again. other than that, I love the ember mugs.

submitted byRobshop - 3 years ago
  • A: Mine stained in about a month. And I rinse mine every day I use it and probably a handwashing once a week.

submitted byNH - 3 years ago

Q: Is the inside of the mug ceramic lined or stainless steel?

submitted by Mama405 - 1 year ago
  • A: The Ember Mug is constructed with solid food-grade stainless steel and has a proprietary ceramic coating that gives it the look and feel of a classic ceramic mug.

Q: Does this fit into a cup holder in a car?

submitted by Bsharp - 1 year ago
  • A: While the Ember Mug may fit in some vehicles' cup holders, it is designed of home or office use and don't recommend using it in your car as the Mug doesn't include a leak-proof lid and may spill. Instead, we recommend our Ember Travel Mug, which is designed to fit in most cup holders, includes a leak-proof lid, and even has an optional (purchased separately) car charger designed to fit in your cup holder and keep your Travel Mug at your perfect temperature for even longer.

Q: Is it safe to pour boiling water directly in this mug? For example, i boil water and want to make a cup of tea. i'd normally pour between 190F to 200F water directly in the cup to steep the tea bag...

submitted by Dane - 2 years ago
  • A: The recommendation is to use hot water, not boiling as the boiling water could overheat the battery.

submitted byBrand Expert - 2 years ago

Q: Do you have to sign up for an account to begin using this device? If so, do I have to consent to data collection like location services?

submitted by Liberty - 2 years ago
  • A: The Ember Mug App does require an account to adjust the set temperature, however the Ember mug will heat to the default set temperature of 135F without the app. Android does require location services to be turned on for bluetooth. We also have an option to opt out of sharing data with Ember.

    Not worth the money

The mug does not hold a charge long at all; 40 minutes or so. Definitely not at all worth the high price tag.

This mug is an absolute must have!

My first Ember 14 oz mug lasted 3 years to the week after being used 3 times a day. The mug was still in perfect condition but the battery died. The charger pins gave out after a year or so on the coaster so I did have to buy another coaster. I have had my second Ember cup for 14 months now and it is still in perfect condition. I plan to buy another one soon to keep on hand for whenever this one dies because I simply cannot be without this cup. I absolutely love it! I like to linger over my email in the morning while enjoying my first cup of coffee and now it stays hot for over an hour. I rinse it out under running hot water and wipe clean with a sponge and carefully dry with the dish towel before putting i back on the coaster. I have had no issues with peeling or stains as some people have reported.

    paint loss in the bottom

After using it for a year, my mug has started to lose the paint from the bottom. The problem is that I'm ingesting this paint. It's true that it doesn't cause me any problems while using it, but what mug gets damaged using ordinary metal spoons? I don't recommend it for the price; it's not worth what it costs.

    Another broken one

This is the third Ember mug I purchased. And as of this morning, this one doesn’t work. I used it maybe 3 months. Like the 2 before it, this one just stopped for no apparent reason after just a few months. I really liked it but I won’t be buying another one.

    Disappointed

Three people in my family got this gift for Christmas. Two of us have found the temperature (145 max) to be upper warm but not hot. We both reported that the mugs didn’t continue to heat for the couple of hours we expected. IMO the mug is too expensive for these results. I cannot recommend this cup.

    Worthless.

I have had this a month. It is a struggle just to turn on. I press the button it lights up then turns off. I sync with the app and it can't find it. I Repair every time I open the app. that is the only way to get it to work. 5 minutes of work to get it to do what a double wall insulated cup would do with no electricity

Not worth the price-short battery life

My husband bought me an Ember for Christmas a year ago. It is not worth the price. I am a slow morning drinker - If Im lucky, the charge lasts an hour. Then its back to reheating my coffee in a traditional mug. For the price it should stay charged a couple hours at least!!! I have also had issues with it staying connected to my phone, and my phone is new.

    Disappointed

Now you have to use the app to control the temperature. Who wants yet another app to just drink some coffee? My phone is already littered with useless garbage apps that were created solely to force me to download and authorize to use a product that need an app. I had an original Ember travel mug where you could see and set the temp right on the mug. It died (after only a few uses) so I decided to buy two “version 2” mugs. Should I have read about the new ones in more detail to understand this serious limitation? Sure. Should I have expected the new, upgraded product to have less features that the old one….well, i guess so. Won’t be buying anymore Ember products after the first one died and the second ones are inferior products. Oh-and it looks like just submitting this review is going to sign me up for their spam. More proof that this company is more about marketing than making products people want.

    Battery life should be longer

I recently received the 14 oz mug for Christmas. While I want to give this product 5 stars, I feel like it has some improving to do. The battery life is too short. I’m a busy mom and in the mornings my coffee goes everywhere around the house with me. 5 minutes after taking the mug off the charger (after being charged to 100%) and it’s already at 85%??! I’ve barely taken a few sips. By the time I get to the bottom 1/4 of cup it’s already dead and my coffee is cold. So forget about having a second cup of coffee in this mug. Secondly, it would be nice if the charger could be wireless. This way you can have the coaster anywhere in the house and have it charging your mug. This should be the next update. I give this mug 5 stars for the first 30 minutes of use as that’s really about how long it works for.

Not even a year old and having problems with it

I bought one in February 2025 and it was nice not having cold coffee for the first month or two but then it I noticed the mug wasn't always charging and then it stopped all together. I looked at the trouble shooting and noticed that one of the metal pegs was stuck down so it wasn't connecting to charge. I emailed support the end of November, and after a week I got a response back about what I needed to do to get a replacement charger. December 10, 2025 I got the replacement and was back to nice hot coffee. About a two weeks went by and I started noticing stuff in my coffee, stuff that shouldn't be there. I poured out the coffee and was washing the mug and noticed stuff on the cloth I was drying it with and then saw a silver line in the bottom of my rose gold mug. Yep, the color coating was flaking off the inside bottom of the mug AND no I do not use a metal spoon in the mug at all or use anything inside it that could scratch the coating off. Every time I put anything, even just water little flakes of the rose gold coating comes off so I can't use it and it isn't even a year old.

christmas gift fom my wife, and I've not put the thing down yet. its so nice to have coffee hot and not have to rush. it senses when coffee is inside and auto turns on. i love this gift., I'd consider it the nicest gift in a long time. ive posted videos on you-tube about it and gotten 4 friends to buy some. mine looks like its 12 ounce but the bottom takes up a lot of space and 12 with creamer will spill if you not careful.
