This book provides case studies accompanied by questions and commentaries for the specialist registrar in diabetes and endocrinology, to assist with problem-based learning during their training. The case studies range from the everyday to the rare and complicated, presenting a strong foundation for the specialist trainee to prepare them for their qualifying exams and, more importantly, for their future clinical consultations. From the Back Cover
This book assembles a number of real-life clinical cases that illustrate aspects of both diabetes and endocrinology. The cases are described as they may present to the clinician, followed by a series of questions that illustrate the clinical problem and provide background information.
All of the clinical vignettes presented have been written by practising physicians and surgeons who encountered these patients in their day-to-day practice. Some represent common presentations of relatively rare conditions, whilst others describe uncommon presentations of more familiar disorders.
Endocrinology and Diabetes: Case Studies, Questions and Commentaries will appeal to both trainees in diabetes and endocrinology and more experienced practitioners alike, providing an alternative approach to cover a wide variety of clinical scenarios.
Review Quotes
"Book presents cases in endocrinology and diabetes abstracted from real-life encounters with patients to show typical situations a clinician may encounter in the primary care office. ... The cases include useful and thoughtful situations that exquisitely demonstrate the characteristics of the clinical situation. The case histories are extremely well presented and the explanations are relevant, concise, and easy to read. I highly recommend this book to every clinician." (Vincent F. Carr, Doody's Book Reviews, July, 2015)
