Q: Are you able to use the base and wheels with a toddler car seat?
submitted by AC - 8 months ago
A: Our Shyft Dualride is not compatible with any toddler seats or infant car seats, aside from the car seat that comes with the system.
I did lots of research comparing this product to the popular Doona, and ultimately decided this one would be a much better fit for us. I saved my registry coupons and waited for the car seat sale so that I could get it at a steal! As much as I love this product, I still believe it's overpriced considering how long you get to use it and how cheap a few of the parts feel. The handlebar is rickety, the seat sometimes gets stuck in the retained stroller (which there's a trick for), and the canopy rubs up against the handle which can be annoying when you're carrying the seat. I also wish the fabric was lighter so it wouldn't get so hot in the car. At the end of the day, these are all minor complaints and I'd definitely repurchase. Our little ones run small so we are actually getting over a year out of our DualShyft. Our baby is actually going to age out of the limits via HEIGHT! It has fit her so comfortably and she barely ever complains about being in the car. I really feel like Evenflo has a nice bucket shake to their infant seats. It has been sooo convenient picking her big sister up from Pre-K! In and out without a hassle, and the wheels are very spinny so I can navigate tiny hallways and doorways with ease. It's fun actually! Oh and the bag you can attach is actually more useful than it looks. I've done a grocery run with it and put gallons down there along with other stuff. I do wish the instructions showed how to attach it properly though. It took me trial and error while struggling in public alongside my kids. I still haven't figured out how to attach the cupholder, but I simply don't care. My cups are too large most of the time anyway. Overall, I'm so happy to have this!

I only have been using this car seat for just under 3 months and it already is having problems. First it will not disconnect from the stroller base when it is on the base in the car. This has happened 3 times now. After days of trying it was able to come off and then I put the car seat back on the stroller attachment in the base and it is stuck again. And now the stroller wheels are getting stuck and will not come down when I try to use the stroller feature. I have been doing research and have found other people have this same problem. So disappointing as this is an expensive car seat.

Sensor safe is grate! Have the extra reassurance that baby is ok it’s awesome. Also being able to leave the wheels on the easy setup base it’s grate since with the wheels it’s a heavy car seat.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] By far the best combo stroller car seat I’ve had. Very convenient for a person of my size I’m 4”10 and I needed something just right for me. Love how the wheels to the car seat can come off that’s a double plus for me.

Easy to Use - We Love It

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall this carseat/ stroller combo is super convenient and easy to use. I love the option of being able to keep my daughter in the seat if needed when getting in and out of the car and needing to go straight to stroller mode. It is very user friendly (once you learn it!) and it is nice being able to adjust the straps and inserts to fit baby as she grows. It is super convenient to be able to get my daughter strapped in the carseat while in the house, wheel her to the car, and within seconds have the stroller collapsed and sitting in the base in the car ready to go. It is so doable with her in the carseat the whole time and is a seamless process! My daughter is 3 months old currently and we have loved using it since the day we brought her home from the hospital. The ONLY con is that you cannot disconnect the carseat from the wheels if it is not connected to the base. It would be great to have that option of disconnecting the two when it is outside of the car/ not connected to the base.

Super awesome seat! Easy to put in and out of the vehicle, awesome safety features such as the sensor safe harness. I also love that it is 3-35 lbs, since my little girl was only 6lbs at birth! The only trouble i've had with it is the wheels don't always want to cooperate but still less work than any other stroller!

I’ve had this car seat for a year now and still using it with my 13 month old. There’s a lot of pros, but some cons too. Pros -Much cheaper than the other brand -So convenient and easy -Can detach from the wheels, unlike the other unnamed brand -Has better safety ratings and isn’t banned in Canada like the other brand Cons -The quality isn’t great. After 1 year of use, there’s a rip in shade cover, the wording on the buckle is coming off, it’s starting to make squeaking sounds, and the buckle makes a sound when I loosen and tighten them -If you get ANY bit of sand in the wrong place, it’ll jam up the folding Bottom line... It’s not worth the price it’s listed for, but if you get it for a good deal then I definitely think it is. It’s been so convenient, and I’m sad I’ll have to switch my 1 year old to a convertible car seat soon and say good bye to the shyft dualride.

This car seat/stroller is worth every penny. We are on our third baby and we got this so that we could easily go places and not have to carry a separate stroller. The other reason why we chose this one over the competitor is because it can hold a small baby up to 3 pounds with our previous two babies they were preemie so this was important to us. The only downside is that it is very heavy to lift with baby in it so if you have a C-section, you are going to have to wait a few weeks before you are the one lifting the stroller/car seat with the baby in it.

I chose this stroller because I wanted a simple solution to choosing a car seat and stroller. Why not combine them into one? The amount of compliments I get about this stroller is borderline annoying. Everyone is amazed how compact it is, its ease of use, portability, and versatility. Having the wheels attached does make it heavy, but isn't that what wheels are for? The Bluetooth function did get annoying as well, but I do appreciate the function, like the temp meter. The only thing I don't like about it is that to attach and detach the wheels, you must connect it to the car base. So if we wanted to go for a walk we'd have to put the stroller in the car first to get the wheels, then put the wheels back in the car when we got home. I feel safe putting my baby in this. Put it on your registry for another generous soul to buy for you.

The Evenflo Shyft DualRide offers excellent flexibility with a stroller and car seat combined, which is a huge advantage for anyone looking to conserve space. My family bought it as an upgrade from a standalone stroller and car seat in order to gain more trunk space in my car. While easy and convenient overall, and I do suggest it for its space-saving capability, the transition from stroller mode back to car seat mode is rather difficult, particularly with my baby still in the seat. While it has this single drawback in ease of use and portability in switching modes, the overall safety feature, durability, and comfort features make it still a decent product for parents wanting a travel system that serves a dual purpose. I would still suggest it

This is the absolute best car seat I have ever used ! There is the safety clip on the harness that alerts you on your phone of certain matters like templates, travel time, and other things! It’s super easy to put together! It is on the heavier side for car seats but unlike other brands with this one you can detach from the wheels making it a bit more maneuverable, baby sleeps well in it and doesn’t fuss on rides! The price point can be a bit high but it is so worth it ! I hate that I waited til my 4th baby to have this !
