About the Book
The ultimate insider's guide to everyone's favourite Church of England service.
Book Synopsis
"The ultimate insider's guide to everyone's favourite Church of England service: Choral Evensong, as heard in cathedrals and churches throughout the land", writes Sir John Rutter.
"Tim Popple, ex-chorister and now cathedral choirman, lifts the lid on its mysteries with the lightest of touches, plenty of anecdotes, and some laugh-out-loud moments.
"Whether you are a seasoned devotee or you don't know your versicles from your canticles, this book is guaranteed to have you running to your nearest cathedral to experience the beauties of choral worship . . . and you will go back and back."
Review Quotes
"Part of his aim is to make us chuckle, but Popple also packs in an impressive amount of fact along the way, and even those of us from a choral background will find themselves learning something..."

As entertaining as it is is true!
Absolutely brilliant book.
For those who have sung in Cathedral choirs before, this is full of laugh out loud descriptions of life in a choir and all its weird idiosyncrasies. The accuracy is astonishing and the style of writing is easy as it is compelling - I read this in 2 days (well, 3, if we're counting days in the way of Jesus's resurrection!).
I recommend this book to anyone who has been in, or is currently, a Cathedral choir.
This is similarly recommended for anyone intrigued in the life of a Cathedral musician.
------------
A must read for anyone vaguely connected to ecclesiastical music
Tim, as ever, nails the narrative and peppers it with self-deprecating humour and genuine love for the work, life and curiosities of choirs. Highly recommended.

AMAZING
This has to be the best book I've ever read! I haven't been able to put it down ever since I got it. It's funny, relatable, and has all the little quirks that only a choir member would know. It's a great book to read in the sermons too!
