Heart warming and healing, Sarah Morgan’s Family For Beginners is about all the imperfections that make life and family complicated, messy, and wonderful all at once. Sarah Morgan has a knack for creating characters you feel as if you've known all along but still want to peel back the layers to their story. Drawing you quickly into their lives, sharing their vulnerabilities and most intimate secrets while instilling humor, romance, and friendship is a Sarah Morgan specialty. Light and easy to read but terribly hard to put down, Family For Beginners is endearing and an absolute must read this summer!

I have read and enjoyed many of Sarah Morgan's books- Family for Beginners is no exception. I enjoyed how she developed each of the characters and although a romance story, there are sub plots which make it even more interesting.
The store begins with Clare receiving a letter from her friend, Becca. Although it is not revealed at that time, we can assume the letter contains a secret that Clare struggles to understand and what to do with that secret. The story moves on to Jack standing outside of a flower shop, distraught, trying to find the courage to enter the shop. Here he meets Flora, a very bubbly and fun woman with her own difficult past. Flora helps Jack pick out some flowers and the two instantly connect. Jack invites Flora for coffee and a relationship builds from there. Jack eventually introduces Flora to his two daughters, Izzy and Molly. After a tragedy, Izzy has been trying to hold the family together, caring for her sister and taking care of the house and is not thrilled to meet Flora. Molly takes a liking to Flora which only angers Izzy more.
Flora yearns to belong to a family and the more time she spends with Jack and his daughters, the more she wants to belong to this family. Will Izzy get over her dislike for Flora? Is her anger motivated solely by Flora or something deeper? Will Flora be accepted by Jack's family and friends? The sub plots and character development kept my interest while reading. I wanted to find out what was in the letter that Clare received, how will Flora and Jack's relationship survive, will Flora be accepted by Izzy? I couldn't wait to finish and enjoy how the story ended.
