This is my second pair of these. My others lasted about a year of consistent wear before they started to get that bronze/rust issue. I bought a replacement pair and they’re awful! Didn’t have the clear backing, one of them keeps falling off the part that goes through your ear. Either I got a bad set or they just don’t make them how they used to.
