A: The site says Material: Polypropylene. I just bought them yesterday and I made mask filters out of them. I made sure to remove the metal first then cut them up into filter strips (that fit my mask) and I put the rest in zip lock baggies.

Bought the item for my place which is located not too far from a highway, and therefore I had noticed with the existing filter (not a 3M brand, which was left for me to use by the previous tenant) I was noticing even soon after having changed the non 3 M filter, I would start to have increased coughing and or eye burning, and I had a hunch that the filter was not doing an adequate job of filtering, so I looked around and I chose this specific 3M filter since it was made/assembled in the USA (to me that usually means, the item is a better quality and attention to detail is paid.) Needless to say, this item has solved all the problems, I can breath better and my eyes are not burning. The air in my home actually feels fresh. So long as this item is made/assembled in the USA, I intend to continue to buy it.

I have a whole room filtration unit that I use the F2 bacteria, virus etc. filter. The unit can handle the restriction if the flow so it performs flawlessly. As for my AC unit? I had to step down a my HVAC couldn’t handle the restriction. Had to do work less restrictive, which still outperforms any of the other filters I’ve tried. I’m thinking the negative reviews are from individuals trying to push their systems to perform work they weren’t designed for. Get yourself a filtreet air purifier and let your AC cool the house. You should still use a Filtrete filter, just use the right one , correct flow, for your HVAC.

First two both said they were locked and I need to contact service. I didn’t want the hustle. Then it paired. A month later I checked it and not working again. Pulled the filter. It needed changing. Like first onr it wouldn’t pair. I am technically advanced. It should not be complicated. The online account only wanted my email, no password. I don’t like that. Good idea that has more work needed

Works so well filtering that it gets itself badly clogged within a week. My AC is two years old and my house is obsessively cleaned daily, can’t imagine what would happen in a dusty home or to an older system. The lack of airflow is quickly noticeable, it’ll start making a whistling sound and the unit struggles to cool the house. I worry it’ll break my AC if I don’t change the filter every 7-10 days. Expensive product to replace so often and create so much garbage but it does make a big difference in air quality. If you’re willing to go through 3+ a month then it’s worth it, I have a hard time justifying the purchase.

Because of their high filtering efficiency, Filtrete(TM) Air Filters may look dirtier than conventional fiberglass filters. This accumulation of dirt indicates that the filter is working, and may not necessarily mean it needs to be changed. Under normal conditions, we recommend changing Filtrete(TM) Filters every 3 months. If you notice that your furnace is turning off and on more than normal, the filter could be restricting air flow. At this point, we recommend changing the filter even if it is before the 3 month time period. Other environmental factors which could shorten the life of the filter are as follows: Inside or outside construction projects that involve lots of dust and dirt, Pets or tobacco smoke, Burning candles or using a wood-burning stove. I don't know if I should give this 4 or 5 stars, because I really like the way it filters the air, but I can't get my house warm enough on cold nights. In the summer, the Filtrete 1500 works well, since I don't run the a/c too often and my home stays fairly cool, even on the hottest SC days. The Filtrete 20x25 size is also a good, snug fit, unlike some brands that are slightly smaller. However, as soon as the evening temperatures begin to fall below 40, I find that even a new filter will restrict air flow so much that I need to stand on a ladder to feel any heat coming from the ceiling vents. When I replaced it with a cheap fiberglass filter, the air flow greatly improved, but I also began to sneeze a lot and can see more dust on my furniture, so it's a double-edged sword, so to speak. In summary, I recommend this filter if you can get enough air flow from your vents to warm your home without putting too much stress on your heating unit.
