This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose and my strength, but also to finding my voice in a world that didn't always see me.

As I wrote Finding Me, my eyes were open to the truth of how our stories are often not given close examination. They are bogarted, reinvented to fit into a crazy, competitive, judgmental world. Could've been a shorter book

The first 8 chapters were repetitive. She always reflected back to being in elementary and wetting the bed at night. Or her parent’s drama was a non-stop highlight every chapter. It definitely didn’t need to be 17 chapters.

Loving!

I just love her story the way she presented to us her hardship and how the emotions between the line of wanting to be better and loving the ones who caused the hurt within. As a dark skin young black women I understand her feelings of not feeling beautiful growing up, not being affirmed even by the people closest to us. Just make sure you get the book honestly and read it.
