Unlike many other volumes on the subject, Foundations of Spiritual Formation argues that the process of becoming like Christ might be accomplished in the context of community. This is not to say that individual Bible study and prayer and meditation are not necessary. They are. But these are done with a view toward both personal and community enrichment-that the whole body, as well as the individual, may be built up.
