Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (30 de agosto de 1797 - 1 de febrero de 1851) fue una novelista, cuentista, dramaturga, ensayista, biógrafa y escritora de viajes inglesa, conocida sobre todo por su novela gótica Frankenstein o el moderno Prometeo (1818). También editó y promovió la obra de su marido, el poeta y filósofo romántico Percy Bysshe Shelley. Su padre fue el filósofo político William Godwin, y su madre, la filósofa y feminista Mary Wollstonecraft.
