Franklin Steel Volleyball Set
3 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend

The poles are NOT 8ft tall. I’m 5’6 and the fact that it’s almost to my head means it’s probably 5’7. The stakes wouldn’t hold it to the ground so I just tied rocks to hold it up. The net is the usual beach volleyball net. Haven’t tested durability yet so can’t say whether it’s good or bad

The net is obviously for the beach only. The poles do not stick in the ground. Could not get the stakes to stay in the ground to hold the ropes . The instructions were bad and need to be updated. The top of the net ripped while setting it up.
Great product, but instructions need an update

The net worked well under a lot of abuse once everything was tightened up. The instructions, however, need to be updated as follows: There is no loop on the guy ropes, but you can create one or just run the guy rope through the hook and tie it. The tension clips need to be used correctly. They are not set up as shown in the instructions. A diagram needs to be included. How to do this isn't obvious, but you can google "how to use tent guy line tensioners" to find out.

What you see in the image does not look like what comes in the package. The instructions that accompanied this set were nothing short of awful. When we visited the Franklin Sports Instructions link, the item number listed on the instructions 51995 - was nowhere to be found. Nor were there any instructions for this come we did a search of the product by name. In fact, no there areen't even results under the instructions page when we typed in a a search for "vollyeball." Don't believe me? See for yourself. The instructions state that 2 "scoring rings" were supposed to be included. They were not. But since we were not concerned with scoring, we decided to forge ahead and email Franklin Sports later to request the missing "scoring rings." Steps 1-4 were fairly harmless, except the rope that loops through the net is measured quite poorly and the instructions neglected to metion how to rectify that issue. But no matter, because once you get to step 5, then good luck. The instructions say, "Attach the top loop of the Top Double Guy Ropes to the top pole hook." To what "loops" the instructions are referring, I suppose we'll never know. The picture in the instructions, like I mentioned, bears no remblance to the parts that came with this set. However, it was when the key ring slipped off the rope - and it escapes me how someone decided that key rings should be incorporated into a volleyball net assembly - that we knew it was time to throw in the proverbial towel and inititiate a return for this horrendous product.

Good price for this net. It does take a while to set up to get it just right, but it was so worth it. And you can always play other games using this
