Becoming certified organic, Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance certified in 2012, the coop leaders utilize the enhancd premiums to fund health and education programs to support the local community.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I typically buy light to medium roast, light to medium bodied coffee. From the first cup of pourover, the Sumatra was clearly bolder than I typically get. Overall, it's still a very nice cup. It's not overly bitter, and you can still taste the flavor of the beans, although I find it not to be quite as open as the light roast Kenya AA and Yirgacheffe roasts from FRC, which are my favorite. Overall, I still prefer the lighter bodied offerings from FRC, but if somebody is looking for something with a bit more body, the Sumatra might be a solid choice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought I would never find the perfect coffee for me. If it was deep it was bitter. If it was smooth it did not have the deep flavor I want. I tried quite a few different coffees from FRC and couldn’t find my perfect combination. Then I tried Sumatra and my hunt was over. For me this coffee is smooth and also has rich and deep flavors. I gave it to a friend to try and for her it wasn’t what she wanted. She likes more of a bite. Just goes to show how coffee is a unique experience. So if you like a deep rich flavor without the bite that is smooth and mellow then I believe this coffee could be your favorite. And the fact that the coffee beans are organic, in the fair trade network and the rainforest alliance puts Sumatra in the perfect coffee range for me.
