Book Synopsis

In From Exhausted to Energized: A Guide for Caregivers of Children and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Amanda (Mandi) Freger introduces a 3-part model of skill, will, and biofield to illustrate how variations on these variables relate to the effectiveness of a caregiver when trying to manage a loved one with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In this archetype grid, caregivers can begin to identify with areas of need, to better match available supports to assist with their resiliencies. In the case that there are challenges with will and the biofield, specific Energy Psychology techniques that are relatively quick are offered. This book is a first of its kind, providing an innovative way to understand how critical the resilience of the caregiver is in remediating the potential to maximize skills development and emotional stability in the ASD population. Applying Energy Psychology techniques to this population of caregivers is the proverbial best kept secret.

Review Quotes

"Any parent or caregiver supporting a child on the Autism Spectrum knows that their own needs are often overlooked. What Mandi has achieved in this inspirational yet practical guide is to offer concrete tools for parents and professionals alike. From Exhausted to Energized not only shares the latest in Applied Behavioral Analysis but offers the innovative and cutting-edge tools of mindfulness and Emotional Freedom Techniques for self-care. This book will truly enhance any professional or caregiver's life and is a must-read."

--Peta Stapleton, PhD., Clinical and Health Psychologist, Chair of Graduate Research Bond University, and author of The Science Behind Tapping: A Proven Stress Management Technique for the Mind and Body

"Since Leo Kanner's seminal 1943 paper on infantile autism, the field of helping autistic people has advanced way beyond those humble beginnings of the advent of Applied Behavioral Analysis--now integrated with Energy Psychology and mindfulness methods. Mandi Freger's From Exhausted to Energized: A Guide for Caregivers of Children and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder is an amazing reference guide for autism professionals and caregivers, perhaps most of all in her reflection on the advancements in compassionate treatment and self-care. Mandi does a wonderful job with this labor of love. I highly recommend it."

--Fred P. Gallo PhD, DCEP, author of Energy Psychology and The Tapping Toolbox

"Effectively caring for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder without burning out requires an almost alchemical combination of non-ordinary ways of supporting those with ASD and consistent dedication to using powerful self-care methods with oneself. From Exhausted to Energized: A Guide for Caregivers of Children and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder shows you how to do both. You'll discover potent ways to effectively support people on the Spectrum while opening up to their autism, something that becomes your own gift of growth. This is the book I wish my parents had when I was growing up."

--David Gruder, PhD, DCEP, President of Integrity Revolution and The Center for Enlightened Self-Sovereignty; best-selling author of The Nimble Company and The Nimble C-Suite

"Truly Inspirational! From Exhausted to Energized is a must-read for any caregiver or parent with a child with ASD. As a parent with a child on the autism spectrum, I know too well how we often lose ourselves, grow weary, and experience a level of PTSD. Mandi has written a fantastic book, providing specific tools to help us reduce our stress and regain our life."

--Jennifer Giustra-Kozek, M.Ed., LPC, CIMHP, and author of Healing without Hurting: Treating ADHD, Apraxia, and Autism Spectrum Disorders Naturally and Effectively without Harmful Medications.

"In this seminal work, Ms. Freger reveals knowledge of how to take care of your ASD child and yourself, the parent/caregiver, that she acquired over decades of professional experience. For the first time, she reveals how to successfully combine standard psychological treatments, such as Applied Behavior Analysis and Discrete Trial Learning, with vibrant and effective trauma-based energy psychology interventions. These are known to have amazing benefits for both the ASD sufferer and caregivers.

Drawing from her extensive experience in treating and training professionals, parents, and children, Ms. Freger gives both clinical and research-guided step-by-step instructions for effectively remediating the overwhelming stress, trauma, and burnout so often experienced by parents and caregivers of ASD affected persons. She introduces the reader to the world of human energy fields, gives detailed instruction in identifying the 7 Caregiver Types, and supplies new effective tools necessary for revitalizing both our physical and emotional energy. This book is a must-read for anyone seeking to be an effective helper to those experiencing the social and communication challenges of those on the Autism Spectrum."

--Gregory J. Nicosia, Ph.D., author of Comprehensive Introduction to Thought Field Therapy

"As an owner of mental health clinics specializing in ASD and family therapy for 30 years, I guarantee this one-of a kind book is long overdue. Parents and guardians can learn a masterful weave of EP techniques and traditional methods! While it is written for ASD families, I believe all my families will benefit from Ms. Freger's insights. I'll be stocking my shelves with this book for clinician self-care and recommending it to all families for support."

--Carole Stern, MS, RN-BC, DCEP, Psychologist, Past President of ACEP, Certified Trauma Therapist, EFT Trainer
