Description

Squash and melon vines love to ramble about, gobbling up your precious garden space. Here's one of the best and most creative ways we've seen to grow these sprawling plants — with a strong arched structure that gets plants up off the ground where they can produce clean, perfectly formed fruits. As the plants flourish, they form a delightful leafy tunnel that's a perfect play space for kids or a shady area for growing salad greens. Holds up to 70 lbs. Disassembles easily into a small bundle for off-season storage.

Excited to find this ready made

I have been building progressively larger structures for my pole bean crop. I started with a teepee I could sit under, then upgraded to a bean cabana with 3 sides around a seat. I was looking for something I could put a small table and chair underneath but could only find really expensive decorative arbors out of my budget. This was exactly what I was hoping for at a fair price. It's definitely built to last, and a bit tricky to put together but once you understand what the process is, it's very repetitive. I just wish the directions were more clear, with better diagrams and more thorough explanations for reference and direction. It seems sturdy enough to hold a LOT of beans!

Birdhouse Squash Tunnel

I'm very happy with this tunnel so far. I've had birdhouse squash growing on the tunnel for about 4 weeks. As of now, the squash is growing nicely and the tunnel seems sturdy enough to support the growing squash. I anticipate the tunnel to continue to hold up to the weight and growing needs of the squash. I'm very happy with the tunnel!

Install was easy and I did most of it solo. After putting it up we had several electrical storms move through, the tunnel held up no problem. We'll see how it does later in the season after the squash start adding weight. But overall it looks great and was easy to put up.

I actually bought this to prevent the deer from eating all my plantings. I wound up making it lower by omitting a row of poles on both sides. I will strategically attach my own chicken wire rather than the netting that came with. I've used lightweight plastic fencing in the past, but the deer knock it down and it becomes a tangled mess. I also think this product will be better than staked wire fencing, which the deer have also knocked over in the past. Although my modifications lower the structure, I can still stand up in it (between the poles). I wish this product came in different heights so I needn't have all the unused parts lying about.

It worked well BUT..

Two legs bent, being plastic, they cannot be bent back. One of the connectors snapped off as well. Not usable for another year. Same thing happened with my row shade cover. Plastic just does not hold up.

A very tall titan tunnel

Considering my 8-year-old largely figured out how to put it together, the tunnel is a lot taller than expected. This will be good in the long run, but I'm curious how long the plastic will last.

I used this last year to support my butternut squash and it did a stellar job. I ended up leaving the trellis up for my fall garden. I'm impressed with how it has weathered.

I can add more vine type vegetable to grow in less space. We not only grow for ourselves but for neighbors. One year we had an emergency and had to leave our gardens for 1Month. Bushels to Foodpantry.

Multi-Purpose Tunnel

I was able to assemble this by myself in a couple of hours. It fits perfectly straddling the aisle between two of our 3' X 6' metal raised beds. I positioned the legs in the beds and used cable ties To bind them onto the bed frame supports. It has withstood 40-50 mph gusts with no problems. Once it is loaded with veg this summer, I anticipate harvesting will be easier. We shall see. I expect this trellis should last many seasons.

Disappointed

Very disappointed in the sturdiness of this tunnel. It held cucumbers if only used on one side. When I planted pole beans on one side and cucumbers on the other, the whole base bent and it wouldn't say erect. No way to bend it back and the whole thing had to be thrown away. For the cost, it was a big waste of money. There is no way it could hold melons.

The one that I put inside a box carried the weight of a young grape vine. It still sagged. The one that did not have external support for the feet slid and the plastic pieces at the top are now torn. It may be good for cucumbers but not for a grape plant.

Went together quite easily with one person. Don't need multiple people as suggested. Too early in the season to see how it does with the vines, but so far so good! Looks nice!

I actually used this tunnel for beans, and planted the squash in the middle. Only the beans climbed the tunnel, so not too heavy. I had to tie over the summer, now crumpled. Love the raised beds I bought!

I built this by myself in about 30 min per structure (without netting). I made 3. Easier to build than the pea trellis because less measuring.
