Q: At our store we saw that the cap of this bottle appears to have a groove in it to hold a seal (like other bottles we've owned) that would keep it from leaking. Does it not need a seal?

A: Hi Wewesting. Gatorade 32 ounce squeeze bottles do not have a rubber seal ring in the cap.

A: I purchased one of these, and at least when my son tilted it upside down to drink out of it, which is the way you’re supposed to drink out of it…. So I had a replacement sent, and that was leaked even worse than the first one. I do not recommend buying this at all until they fix the problem.

Bottom seam leaks
There is a seam at the bottom of the bottle and water leaks from the seam. Do not purchase. This happened to two different bottles. Cap will leak unless it’s tightened just right.

Purchased one and it had a small very slow leak when my son tilted it upside down to drink out of it, which is the way you’re supposed to drink out of it. They told us to keep it and they replaced it with a new one. The a new one leaked even worse and all over our refrigerator. If you have to purchase this bottle, be prepared to store it straight up and down you can’t lay it down on its side for any extended period of time. I’ve tested this theory twice, with two different bottles. So, be prepared to have it come out the side of the cap onto your face, when you tilt and squeeze it to take a drink. The first one we had wasn’t a terrible leak. But the second one was awful. My son continues to use the first one when he plays long football games in south Florida because he doesn’t care if it goes on his face, a bit. The second one we threw in the garbage. We were refunded for both of them, so if he gets sick of it we can throw it away with no loss on our part. Hopefully they remake it correctly… because it looks like I’m far from the only one that’s having a leaking problem with this specific water bottle.

This design leaks
The cap leaks from the side. It's not a dud either, I bought two bottles for hockey and they both leak a lot. Major design flaw after reading other reviews with same problem. Will be returning.
