Mold
Mold far before the expiration date. Only knew because it’s so thick I opened the cap to scoop out easily and saw the mold!

Sauce is too thick.
The sauce tastes great but why in the world did they make it this thick and refuse to dispense? It just congeals to the bottom of the bottle. And it is even worse once you open it because you have to refrigerate it. You never get more than half the bottle out before it refuses to let any more out. This stuff needs to be runnier for it to be considered a sauce. Because as it is you may just call it a chocolate bar. I tried adding water to it and it didn’t even want to mix it was too solid.

Don't buy from target. It must have been stored improperly and moisture got in, causing mold to grow. I sent a Pic of the seal, with the mold visible, to ghirardelli, and they confirmed that's what it was.

You can't get half of it out of the bottle because it's way too thick. I even store it upside down and pound it on the counter. No idea why they would put this consistency in a bottle when it very clearly belongs in a jar. I like the flavor but would not buy again.

Good chocolate but this is wasteful. It requires refrigeration and the bottle is stiff so it’s nearly impossible to get out. After squeezing and sticking a knife in I think I still had 15-20% of the product stuck inside.

No HFCS and it tastes great, but...
Why would Ghirardelli do this to us? They say, hey guys, here’s some delicious, real chocolate without the nasty ingredients that other companies have… go ahead! Enjoy! Then they sit back and laugh watching us try to get it out of the bottle… Can you hear them?? This is their joy. I’m 39 years old and I can load a refrigerator into my truck without help and I’m over here squeezing the life out of this bottle to get the chocolate out.. then I have to resort to getting a butter knife and looking like a maniac, eventually making a mess.. wondering what my life has become. Was it so hard to put this chocolate into something with a tapered nozzle? A squeezable pouch body? Anything to help us out?? For $6 it would be nice to not have to feel like I’m making my own chocolate syrup by squeezing hard chocolate blocks… my hands need a nap

This is so disappointing because this tastes really good but you can’t get to it! It’s hard to squeeze in general but after it’s been refrigerated it’s impossible. You have to dig it out with a knife.

Container design is absolutely terrible!
I love Ghirardelli chocolate and thought this product would be a great item to purchase. I only gave at least two stars for the taste! But, it's virtually impossible to get the chocolate sauce out of this container! It is nice and thick which is good! But, for crying out loud use some common sense and put such a thick substance in a container where it can be scooped out then! Expecting customers to squeeze it out of this container is just sadistic!

SOLUTION, Hear ye, Hear ye...
Like the other reviews the bottle and functionality of getting the whole product out and the refrigerate. SOLUTION: A good bottle with the same ounces with a pointed twist cap to squeeze out, like they use at the coffee shops and fancy places so you don’t see the brand they use… My only other question is how long do this last after opening ingredients? I’ll have to call to find out.

Delicious but unusable.
It has the worst bottle design. At least 30% of the syrup will remain in the bottle. Hard to squeeze and use. It is the *correct* chocolate syrup for coffee drinks (not for desserts), but the lack of a pump makes this unusable since it's too thick to flow. Get the Torani brand if you must, similar taste with a functional bottle.

Sour and bitter chocolate sauce
Bought this for banana splits and all of my kids hated it. One of my kids ran to bathroom to spit it out. I consider myself a die hard chocolate fan and I tried some and it was inedible. Sour, bitter, just all around not good. I loved the ingredient list but unfortunately it didn’t deliver in taste.
