The acoustic-electric MulitOud Encore Nylon SG from Godin Guitars lets take the oud, an ancient 11-string instrument with origins in the Middle East, to places it's never gone before. With an innovative design that includes an EPM Quantum 1T electronics system with undersaddle transducer, can plug in and be heard in a crowd or over the mix in a band situation, but more importantly have volume, bass and treble control via the onboard preamp, right at fingertips.The oud is traditionally hard to keep in tune. But with this intelligently crafted reworking by Godin, have custom machine heads and a bulit-in chromatic tuner to make that issue a thing of the past. While the first ouds were pear-shaped and had a bulbous back to them, the MultiOud has a more modern flat-back style and even gives a cutaway in the upper bout for better access to the entire fretboard.The two-chambered Canadian Laurentian basswood body and solid cedar top offer ample projection when aren't plugged in, and its fretless rosewood fingerboard and rosewood bridge give it a nice, naturally beautiful aesthetic.
