Book Synopsis

You've FOUND It.

What We NEED.

NOW.

The majority of people on Earth are familiar with the foundational ethical principle often called The Golden Rule - Humanity's Number One Rule.

It's time now for us to embrace a far more expansive and effective version of the original.

GoldenRuleism is the name of our overarching ethic - an ethic universal in its scope. Discover what it can mean for your life.

This booklet stimulates you to act - to do what YOU can - from where you are.

GoldenRuleism's foundation is its two principal principles - two elegantly simple sentences.

It's Humanity's "Apply It Now" ethic. We the people of the world need to be GoldenRuleistic. We'll make our lives decidedly better - with and for each other.

Here are words from a few of GoldenRuleism's personal endorsers:

"GoldenRuleism gives us a fresh take on an age-old wisdom, ramping up our sense of genuine compassion for each other, our children, and our one-and-only Mother Earth."

"If all communities could adopt the sentiments found within GoldenRuleism, we would truly have a better world for all."

"It is time to take this on and heal the world."

You'll do well to get this compelling booklet. You'll do well to "get" GoldenRuleism.

Review Quotes

Midwest Book Review

GoldenRuleism/Living A GoldenRuleism-Guided Life advocates for sweeping global change through embracing compassion, justice, and a form of community-wide humane thinking that Craig Cline calls "GoldenRuleism." The concept is heady; especially when applied to large segments of humanity rather than the kernel of community thinking-but nobody ever promised that transformative experiences would involve simple mindset adjustments. Cline's short treatise (nearly a booklet, at under fifty pages) synthesizes the ideals, concepts, and avenues of enacting GoldenRuleism, condensing all these facets into two simple sentences designed for easy memorization and equally succinct applications. These are: Do for all others, both directly and indirectly, what you would want done for you. Don't do to any others, either directly or indirectly, what you wouldn't want done to you.

Cline then applies these traditional thoughts to modern-day events and considerations, reinvigorating them with modern thinking and challenges and considering the various incarnations they may take when overlaid with contemporary social, psychological, and political conundrums. Seemingly simple choices thus receive more thoughtful processing via this approach:

GoldenRuleism does not only have a few more words attached to it, its meaning delves deeper into who we are and how we should interact with ourselves and others. GoldenRuleism upholds the values and moral and ethical precepts that are at our core as humans.

From various "isms" that GoldenRuleism intrinsically rejects to the importance of including and understanding "indirectly," readers receive thought-provoking moral and ethical food for thought that is worthy of book club reading and classroom debate alike. Readers who have grown up with the ideals of the Golden Rule, but then discarded them due to the challenge of applying them to modern circumstances, will want to revisit the concept in GoldenRuleism/Living A GoldenRuleism- Guided Life. It's worthy not only of classroom assignment for students of moral, ethical, and sociological circles, but of library acquisition and recommendation to patrons seeking more options for transforming their own lives and communities. As an added bonus, this book is published in both English and Spanish.

BookLife Reviews (Excerpt)

"Targeting the individual first, Cline's upbeat debut calls for nothing less than a transformative community and global movement for justice, humanity, and the care of all this planet's sentient beings. That sweeping vision of change can be kicked off, Cline argues, by the reader answering the call, making a pledge to "GoldenRuleism," and then honoring and modeling its precepts in everyday life. As the title suggests, Cline's pay-it-forward effort to "Move Humanity Towards Humane-ity" is rooted in the Golden Rule. Cline notes that the classic precept "has long been overdue for an expanded version of itself," and he offers what we could call version 2.0, clarifying and broadening the rule: "Do for all others, both directly and indirectly, what you would want done for you. Don't do to any others, either directly or indirectly, what you wouldn't want done to you..."
