Received and tested. gopro hero12 black doesnt recognize it is connected. 1. Tested the gopro type-c by plugging directly into pc, no media mod: successful connection. 2. Tested the TRS connection mic that I am utilizing with pc: successfully working. 3. Tested gopro with media mod + TRS connection mic: does not work. 4. Tested gopro with media mod into PC via type-c connection: does not recognize (although it will begin to charge it) I have the latest updated firmware. Willing to update review once replacement is sent if maybe this is just a rare defective one.

I'm not sure what the root cause is, but there's a recurring issue where the camera doesn't recognize the mod, especially when it's paired with the Volta grip. I've had two different Media Mods, and the problem has persisted with both. It often requires me to remove the camera, manually reset connections, and hope for the best. The potential of the Media Mod is immense, and it’s a vital piece of the GoPro ecosystem for creators. But until the connection issues are resolved, it’s hard to fully trust it for a professional shoot where reliability is non-negotiable. It's a fantastic concept that needs more consistent execution.

I added an external microphone, the 3. 5 mm headphone jack is loose, and the audio is all static from the poor connection. You can not have both front and rear mics on at the same time. Changing batteries is also a pain if you need to do a quick swap.

Habe mir diesen Media Mod bestellt. Lieferzeit m. e. zu lange. Eine sehr sprachumfängliche user guide. Sehr viele Sprachen, jedoch nicht in deutsch! Irgendwie konnte ich Herauslesen das der Media Mod nicht unter Wasser genutzt werden kann. Meine Frage ist nun, wie es bei Regenwetter ausschaut? An den Support kann man ja nicht einmal eine Mail senden. . . . Das geht bei anderen Herstellern erheblich einfacher.

J'ai acheter ce module pour la gopro 9 et la 12. A chaque fois, j'ai perdu la bonnette du micro, la fixation n'est pas vraiment pas fiable, et comme pas hasard pas dispo seul..

I bought it and using it for a Rode mic. But it broke after a few months of use. When I plug it in, the USB connection keeps connecting and disconnecting.

IF YOU PUT THE LIGHT ON BACKWARDS on accident like i did (crap)... you can't get it off and need to buy a new Media Mod AND light... there are some youtube videos that show how to get it off with a piece of plastic but I haven't been able to make that "hack" work...so I'm buying a second Mod and light and then I'm sure I'll give it a great review because it does look amazing! GoPro please be nice and fix this issue (I saw a lot of blogs/forums talkign about this issue and I'm not the only person who made that mistake within 5 minutes of getting this home).

Like my title says, this Media Mod is a complete waste of your money. Every time I have tried to use it, my camera overheated and shut down. I have used it each time in an air conditioned environment, so it was not in a "high temperature" environment. Once was when mounted on a tripod and the second time was when handheld using a tripod. It was in a large conference room that was very cool. I am very unhappy with this. I have had it for a while, but stopped using it after the first time. This last time I took it out of town with me to a conference with the intention of recording some of the sessions. It lasted maybe 30 minutes until overheating and shutting down. It had complete airflow around the camera and was in the air conditioned room. So disappointed!! I could understand if I had purchased this as a "knockoff" version, but this was GoPro's own version.

Works great, I can fill a 256 Gb card by recording for hours, or until the 12 gets too hot. Plug in a small battery back up and video away. However, don’t recall mine getting too hot as I was recording mostly in AC conditioned rooms.

I used this for the first time yesterday, the reason I wanted this is to protect the microphone from wind. When I fitted it, I did think the little mic cover was a bit insecure, and so it proved. I lost it on the first use, and there seems to be no way to buy or get replacements, and the live chat/receive call doesn't work.

With mod attached the Volta is useless,, but it works great with stock grip

This never works right. There's a bug with it that GoPro will not admit or fix. The only way to get the mod to work is to factory reset your camera, go through all the set up, then attach the mod and power it back on. The mod will work until you power the camera off, then you have to factory reset to get it to work again. Not worth it.

Requires the device to be restarted constantly until it works. I have managed to figure out a workaround. The first time to camera turn on with the mod it doesn't register it so each first time I must keep the on button pressed to restart it. once it restarts the mic works. having to do this means I miss so many in the moment shots. Secondly, even when the mic is working when I am in a place with a lot of ambient sound it drowns out my voice entirely, Making the clips unusable. Thirdly, when it is attached it is always messing with the camera. Turning it on randomly, making it impossible to be turned of without a hard reset, forcing date and time to be reset. Additionally I have nearly lost the foam cover so many times at is is so easy to pop off. Fortunately though, after spending lengthy amount of times in the streets looking for it I have always found it again. Now it is strapped to the camera with ugly elastic bands as best as possible. But still doesnt stop if from coming off all the time. Do yourself a favour and avoid this product at all costs. And if you haven't already made the tragic mistake of buying a Gopro, then go over to insta 360 or Dji and buy one of their products. Gopro's are worse than junk. Because you don't spend hundreds on junk expecting it to do a job which it is never able to do. Junk is junk. However, you will spend hundreds on a go pro only to be left with something which simply cannot do the basic job it is designed to do. And Gopro have always suffered from an inability to build functioning products. Im surprised the company is still in operation. I wish for its speedy downfall so it is unable to continue disappointing customers. You should be ashamed at yourself Gopro for releasing such garbage to the marketplace. Don't fall for the one thing Gopro is good at, marketing. Do not buy from this company!

I’ve absolutely loved using this product. I still use it on a day-to-day basis. I’ve done multiple things with it as far as using it with a Volta doing a race start with my motorbike and the media mode has stood up to what it’s meant to be built. tough it was in caked mud and everything just dusted right off and I’m still able to use it which is amazing, of the best products I’ve probably gotten

Great housing allowing very decent voice recording when attached to a helmet by using the rear mic of the mod. Nevertheless having to remove the GoPro from the housing to change battery is a complete mess and the reason why I’m actually not using my GoPro12 any more on my off-road tours.

Overall the quality is good and works as intended but the design has a major flaw. Every time you change the battery, you must detach the camera from the mount to remove the mod. It is time-consuming and complicated to change the battery. They should have given the mod its own mount instead of requiring you to use the camera mount. I love my GoPros and buy a new one every year and can't believe this poor design is still outstanding. Outside of this annoying design problem, this mod is a must-have for using external mics and professional vlogging.

I have a Shure mic that I want to connect to my GoPro HERO12 Black and the shoe mount space on the media mod is too thin to take the standard shoe on the Shure mic. Very frustrating.
