Q: Will it work for concrete blocks on the seams inbetween?

submitted by PJA - 3 months ago
  • A: Hello PJA. Thank you for your inquiry. The Greenworks 29-piece ratcheting screwdriver set is designed for everyday household DIY tasks such as furniture assembly and general light-duty fastening. It is not suitable for driving screws directly into concrete blocks or mortar joints. For working efficiently and safely with masonry materials like concrete, you will need tools with a hammer function or high-impact drilling capability. For concrete applications, we recommend the Greenworks 24V SDS-Plus Variable Speed Cordless Rotary Hammer Drill. This is the most suitable Greenworks tool for drilling into concrete, as a rotary hammer uses a pneumatic piston mechanism that delivers significantly more impact energy than a standard drill. This allows it to drill into concrete and masonry much more effectively, including pilot holes up to approximately 12 mm in diameter. We hope you will find this information helpful. If you require any additional support or have questions regarding a product, we recommend trying our Q&A section on products' page or Chat with us direct on our website or call 1-888-909-6757. We are here to help.

Q: Will this drill work with stone wall

submitted by meand only me - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi meand only me. Thank you for your question. Yes, you want to ensure you have the correct bit selected. Diamond-Tipped Bits: These are the most commonly used bits for stone drilling and carving. Diamond, being the hardest material, can cut through almost any type of stone. We hope this helped!

Don't buy

Product does not work like a standard ratchet screwdriver. I broke it within 5 minutes of using it since there’s no instructions. Didn’t even get to use it for what I bought it for.

We are sorry to hear about your experience and completely understand your frustration with your ratcheting screwdriver breaking so quickly before you could complete your project. Standard ratcheting screwdrivers rely on an internal direction selector collar, typically located on the handle or shaft, that must be fully rotated and clicked into the forward, reverse, or locked position before applying torque. If the selector mechanism is set between detents or subjected to extreme rotational force while in a locked state, the internal pawls can bind or strip. To troubleshoot and safely operate a replacement ratchet driver, always ensure the directional collar snaps firmly into your desired drive setting, keep the driver aligned straight with the fastener to avoid lateral pressure on the mechanism, and avoid using ratcheting handles as pry bars or applying excessive torque meant for impact tools. We want to ensure you have complete clarity on product capabilities and usage for your home projects. Please reach out directly to the Greenworks Customer Success Team by phone at 1-888-909-6757 or via chat on our website with your order details so our team can answer any questions and assist you further.

Broken

Screwdriver broke after only a few uses. Only can unscrew things now. Something in the mechanism broke and it cannot be set to screw things in anymore. Do not recommend!

Hello eliza. We are sorry to hear about the issue with your ratcheting screwdriver and understand your disappointment, especially after only a few uses. The ratcheting mechanism is designed to allow both tightening and loosening functions, so if it is no longer switching between directions properly, the internal mechanism may not be operating as intended. We recommend checking that the selector switch is fully engaged in the desired direction and free of any debris that could prevent proper movement. If the issue continues, please contact our success team for assistance with next steps. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, accessible by clicking “Chat Now” in the bottom corner of your screen, Chat with a Live Agent or by calling 1-888-909-6757.
