[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had never seen a bike like this before, but after setting it up for my 3 year old nephew, I could really see the benefit of it. This bike is pretty lightweight, so it is easy to work with. He has never rode on a bike until this one, but after playing with it a little bit, he got the hang of it. This is a great first time bike. It helps him learn how to maneuver a bike.. he is learning how to balance himself on it and get comfortable with using a bike before he is ready to move up to a regular bike. Maybe by starting out with this bike, he may not need training wheels in the future.. we shall see!

This balance bike was easy to assemble. The bike includes the tools you need to assemble. My son has been riding this every day building up his confidence to take the next step. I really like the quality materials used in this bike. It can withstand some rough play from the kids and still work and look great.

It’s great for a first like bike that he can actually learn balance on. I think training wheels actually hurt kids’ learning how to ride a real bike whereas this one they can actually learn balance. I didn't understand the purpose of a bike without pedals, but then I read more about them and their benefits. The purpose is to teach kids to balance instead of depending on training wheels. Using training wheels is a setback from actually riding a bike. So once learning this I got my 3-year-old son the Hape New Explorer Balance Bike with Magnesium Frame. Assembly was easy and took a few minutes for me to get it ready to go for him. Once he started going I noticed him improving more and more with his balance.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Hape New Explorer Balance Bike with Magnesium Frame, Ages 3 to 5, Toucan Green because it was that time to start teaching my son to ride a bike. First off, let me start by saying that my son has down syndrome and we had already tried a regular bicycle. He had a lot of issues with balancing it and because of that, he didn't trust that he wouldn't fall. I received the Hape balance bike and he immediately was intrigued with the cool design and color. I was impressed with how easy it was to put together. Within about 30 minutes, that included thoroughly reading the instructions and open the boxes, he was ready for his new adventure and I was ready to make some amazing memories. He hopped right on and is now learning how to improve his balance. He absolutely loves this bike and has been riding it everywhere. Its so easy to carry and super light, and it also has a built in handle which makes carrying it even easier. We love this bike and highly recommend this be your first step to the bike process with your kiddos.

She's already learning to balance without any training wheels and gaining the confidence to ride a regular bike. It's very well constructed and every bit of it shows attention to detail and quality. The rubber wheels are super quiet on the wood floors and she is happy riding around when we can’t go outside. It’s perfect for her height! I had a little hard time assembling as the instructions weren’t the greatest but all in all it’s a wonderful and very sturdy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the color scheme, however here are the things that shine about this bike: -light weight and smooth wheels -seat post isn't a simple circular tube - it's a tear drop so the weight of the child doesn't spin the seat around over time. -plastic is the rugged 'powder coated' rough-feeling plastic as opposed to cheap smooth plastic. -front handlebar adjustment height extremely high range for taller kids. If I had one gripe, it would be to recommend a little bit of a wider footrest for larger kids, but my 2 year old fits this thing perfectly! No other issues... much better than the one I recently purchased from Costco.

He had a smaller one that he's outgrown and this one is from 3-5 and fits him well on one of the lower settings now. He's 75th percentile in height and weight. He should be able to get a while out of this. I suspect a few years because of the quality pieces and tires. There's also a comfortable seat and he zoomed right off as soon as it was adjusted. I highly recommend it!
