Review Quotes

"This timely book offers coaches a mindful and respectful transformational journey to understand and embrace culturally responsive coaching. Every coach will benefit from the strategies and adopting the reflective habit to contemplate the multitude of areas and layers of topics they pose about how both our own and our client's beliefs, values, and practices impact our behaviors. I was grateful for the conversational tone, the stretching of my perspectives and the powerful impact on my own coaching!" --Constant Hine, president/principal consultant,

Horizons In Learning, LLC, author of Transformational Coaching for Early Childhood Educators

"How I wish I had read this wonderful guide before I served as an early childhood education coach! In an accessible format and centered on culturally responsive coaching, Hearing All Voices encourages and guides coaches to explore their own cultures and voices and to bring that deep respect for one's culture--language, values, experiences, family, religion and 'all that influences our behavior and the decisions we make, ' to our work with teachers." --Amy Stephens Cubbage, M.S., J.D., president, The North Carolina Partnership for Children

"If you are interested in learning more about how to advance equity in ECE - then this book is for you. The authors not only make a compelling case for investing the time to become culturally responsive -- they provide examples, resources, tools, reflective questions, and all the information needed to develop competencies that truly bring all voices into the work of increasing quality in a way that advances equity. There is nothing like this - the authors have created a guide to navigate the compliance driven systems and mentalities through authentic relationship building. This leads us on a journey of developing new ways to interact with diverse coaches, educators, and families in all aspects of systems building work--including collecting and making meaning of data and assessments. This is the only way to make lasting change." --Cassandra O'Neill, CEO of Leadership Alchemy, co-author of Five Elements of Collective Leadership for Early Childhood Professionals

"Jill McFarren Avilés and Erika Amadee Flores invite coaches to reflect on the power of listening with an open heart. Practical and inspirational, their book provides a guide to culturally responsive coaching that honors individual strengths, builds relationships, and supports inquiry and impactful self-directed learning." --Peter Mangione, senior director for early childhood strategic initiatives, senior managing director, WestEd
