Q: Why on earth do the plates now have grey text on the actual food surface?

A: Mostly for marketing purposes. I don't think it's smart at all to put ink on a surface you eat from. Especially since hot food will dissolve it.

Q: Why can't you put "Recycable" notice on the back of the plates? This is a ridiculous decision by your company! My guests and my family don't need to look at this printing while they're eating. Bring back the plain white plates please.

Th description says that they are Paper Plates but when you read the fine print on the packaging, it says “commercially compostable only” which means you can’t put these in your home compost bins, as you would any normal paper plate. There is some kind of plasticy coating on the inside of the plate. I wouldn’t trust this mystery coating to be safe for my kids or anyone else. I’m going back to chinet paper plates — 100% paper, heavy duty, no mystery coating on the plate. More expensive but no mystery substance interacting with food.

I stopped buying Dixie due to the chemical smell and I was excited to try these plain plates until I saw that there are printed words on the food surface!! Hot food will break that ink down, why would you print anything on the food surface?? Truly terrible, target DO BETTER! Target can't figure out why their profits are so low GEE I WONDER...

Who thought it was a good idea to put ink writting on a food contact surface. Made in USA is great and that's why I buy these like a lot of other people but you had to put printed text on the side I eat off of. Keep the made in USA and go back to print on the back.

I use these pretty much daily. They are relatively durable and the price is great. They do tend to get floppy with warm foods that have sauce or moisture or in the microwave, so make sure for those things you double up.
