There's multi-POV, multi-storyline, and multi-romance. Retelling vibes: Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Mulan If you loved the later books in the Throne of Glass series (HOF and forward), this is for you. I LOVE multi-POV books that span across multiple storylines more than ANY other kind of book, but I think they're difficult to do well. This series does it perfectly. The pacing, the emotional damage, the balance between all the main characters' personalities & growth arcs, and the romance! Infinite star rating from me. I care about every POV equally; there was no spot throughout the entire series that dragged even for a bit. I devoured 2,346 pages of this series over the course of just a few days because I was so invested, and I already know that I will be doing re-listens/re-reads. One of my favorite parts of the series is how different all the main FMCs are, and how they display strength and growth in unique ways, but in equal measure. The romances feel layered and specific to each couple. The chemistry in each relationship is incredible and feels SO authentic- the couples fit together in a way that their specific personalities perfectly complement and challenge each other. None of the characters or romances feel cookie-cutter or trope-y (even when popular tropes come into play). The spice feels integral to the plotlines and character arcs (and is 🔥at the same time) These characters will live rent free in my head as long as Aelin & the rest of the TOG gang have. Book 1 specifically: Had me sobbing by CHAPTER 9! (and somehow it already felt EARNED.) Rhea and Flynn are EVERYTHING. Bahira is one of my favorite 'prickly' FMCs ever. Hardly took a breath before I dove into book 2!
