After twenty-three years of overprotective parents, critical health problems, and a secluded Amish upbringing, Betsy Detweiler has decided to step out of her comfort zone and truly live. She has created a “Life List”, all the things she has missed out on doing growing up. Many of these might seem odd to someone who has had a normal childhood: learning to play golf, riding a bike, learning to swim, but to Betsy they are new experiences. She heads to Pinecraft, Florida to fulfill her ambitions. Her indomitable spirit did more than just complete her list! She became an inspiration to those whose lives she touched. I loved being a part of her vacation and journey of self-discovery! Betsy’s courage and determination was a surprise to me. She clearly saw her weaknesses and faced them head on. She still harbored doubts and fears to the point of considering giving up, but she didn’t! Each of the other characters were facing fears they had not overcome in their lives. August Troyer, her golf instructor, had struggled with his parent’s pressure to follow in their footsteps as a missionary. He love his parents but this was not the direction he felt led. Could he honor his parents and not give into their wishes? Anna and Danielle, Betsy’s swim instructors held back creating new lives because of painful failed marriages. They were afraid to move ahead and even have healthy relationships with each other and their families. Could they overcome their pasts? As with any positive effort to change, many more doors of opportunity open; ones that would have otherwise remained shut. Betsy never dreamed of all the beautiful things that would happen by simply following her simple dreams. I can’t wait for the third book in this series! I received this book from Revell Publishing in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated are my own.

Her Only Wish by Shelly Sheperd Gray is the tale of Betsy Detweiler, who is spending her time with her friends in Pinecraft, Florida. Held back by severe asthma, Betsy has been sheltered, not only through the Amish ways, but also through her illness throughout her years. She suddenly meets August Troyer, as she’s working through her life list of things she wants to accomplish. August is her golf instructor. He too, has led a sheltered life. Betsy is thoroughly enjoying her golf lessons, as well as swim lessons. However, her health interferes with her adventures. Will that still be able to accomplish her goals? Will she ever get out of the shelter of her parents? Her Only Wish is a great fiction story. It incorporates the Amish life as well as the incredible idea of a life list as opposed to a bucket list. I thoroughly enjoyed Betsy’s adventures as well as those of her friends. This is the second book in a season in Pinecraft. However, one could read this book on its own.

This was such a fun second installment to the A Season in Pinecraft series. I saw such a fun side to the Amish that kept me smiling while reading. Betsy is such a charming character willing to step out of her comfort zone and explore a life list. That list includes learning to golf where she meets August and swimming where she touches the lives of Anne and Danielle. She is inspiring to everyone whose life she touches. I fell in love with these characters and Pinecraft in book one and was so glad to revisit. The descriptions make me want to visit. It was nice to see Betsy and August grow throughout the story and seek the lives they wanted. I look forward to book three. In the meantime grab a copy and settle in for a book that leaves you smiling inside. I was blessed to win a copy from a blog. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

I enjoyed my first fictional visit to Pinecraft, Florida, with Her Heart's Desire, so I was especially glad to return for a second trip! Her Only Wish allows me to meet new characters while catching up with characters that I've met before. Heartwarming, entertaining, and inspiring are adjectives that I often associate with this author's stories, and this book fits them to a tee! There's romance, adventure, and a reminder that we're sometimes challenged to reach past our comfort zones. Shelley Shepard Gray also gives readers a peek at a future adventure that's waiting in Pinecraft. I highly recommend Her Only Wish to all who enjoy Amish romance and contemporary fiction. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.

This is a sweet and inspirational Amish romance that is the second of a series set in Pinecraft, Florida. Although part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. The characters are lovable and relatable and the story moves along at a good pace. The story is believable, original and enjoyable as Betsy pursues completing goals on her Life List and ends up making new friends and falling in love. All opinions expressed are my own.

Her Only Wish by Shelley Shepard Gray takes us back to Pinecraft, Florida. Betsy Detweiler is returning with a list that she wishes to complete during her monthlong visit. She calls it a life list. Health issues as a child have prevented Betsy from doing normal child and teen activities. Asthma does prevent you from doing normal physical activities, especially if you live in colder climates (I know from experience). I thought Betsy was brave to try new activities. It is not something that comes easy to people who are shy or who have been ill. I enjoyed getting to know Betsy. She meets some good people who help her complete her list. Betsy encounters August Troyer at the Snow Bird Golf Course which is an Amish owned golf course. August is smitten with Betsy from the very beginning. August is lucky to have such a loving and caring aunt and uncle. August’s parents are dedicated to their mission work but for the wrong reasons. They acted like children at times instead of adults. Betsy makes a difference in the lives of those she meets. An example is Annie and Danielle who help Betsy learn to swim. It gets you to think about your own life list. We also get to see that while you may want to learn an activity, you may not be good at that activity. It is amazing to see what determination and hard work can do. I enjoyed the beautiful descriptions of Pinecraft and nearby beaches (Siesta Key is my favorite beach). I am looking forward to Lilly Kurtz’s story in the next A Season in Pinecraft novel. Her Only Wish is the second book in A Season in Pinecraft series. While Her Only Wish can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading Her Heart’s Desire. I like that we get to catch up with Mary Margaret and Jayson from Her Heart’s Desire. Her Only Wish is an uplifting Amish tale with a thoughtful friend, golf lessons, beautiful beaches, protective parents, swimming sisters, and a life list.

I love Shelley Shepard Gray books and have been reading them for many years, this one was another amazing story. I loved getting to know Betsy better after being introduced to her in “Her Hearts Desire”. Loved being able to watch her character grow through out the story and check items off her list while inspiring others with it. I also enjoyed watching the relationship between her and August grow. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher but all views are my own.
