Uncured and Tasty
No Preservatives added! I purchased this ham steak because it is uncured. I am not eating any chemical additives. Plus I did not need a large full size ham. This Good and Gather Ham Steak is the perfect solution, It tasted much better than I anticipated. Not too salty and a mild flavor great paired with cranberry sauce. Has a nice consisitency and perfect for two meal porions. Very easy to prepare with Good and Gather Fresh, not frozen, string beans and Good and Gather Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. I put alayer of string beans onthe bottom, ham steak ontop of green beans and topped with nashed potatoon side and set crock pot to high with a small armount of electric kettle boiled waterpured in bottom of pot around green beans which makes the crock pot heat up fast anhe ham steak and reheats the mashed potaoes very quickly under a half hour. Tasty enough and quick great fun meal.Old timey comfort food.

consitent quality, better than competing brands
I have purchased pre-sliced ham steaks from other brands without great luck. This brand seems to be so much more consistent. I have not found big knots of connective tissue or fat, because these steaks are usually mostly just meat. It is a little salty but it is also a little smoky, sweet and flavorful like ham. Sometimes it is marbled with a bit of tissue in it, but I have never had to throw out any substantial portion of the good&gather Uncured Ham Steak. At this point, this is the only pre-sliced and prepackaged ham steak that I will purchase for my family. I do not know how how they make the size and texture so uniform, but I like it!

Sorry a large enough quantity to satisfy a hankering for him. The flavor is mild and thankfully not salty. This is large enough to be split into two servings or great for flavoring stews beans or peas or casseroles. This ham steak does not have any weird ham deposits within the steak it is perfectly processed and well cut.
